SJAN's Bagde, Nayse on SJFI

Kishor Bagde and Suhas Nayse, both from Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) were co-opted in the executive committee of Sports Journalists' Federation of India (SJFI) at its AGM held at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad. The first executive committee meeting co-opted both Nayse and Bagde. Veteran journalist G Viswanath of The Hindu (Mumbai) was retained as the president. Subodh Malla Barua of Dainik Asom (Guwahati) will remain the secretary for 2014-16 period.


The following are the office-bearers and Executive Committee: President: G. Viswanath (Hindu Mumbai); Vice-Presidents: A Vinod (Hindu Kerala), DV Garud (Bangalore), Saraju Chakraborty (Tripura) and Vikas Pande (Indore); Secretary: Subodh Malla Barua (Dainik Asom, Assam); Joint Secretary: Prashant Keni (Loksatta, Mumbai); Treasurer: R Kaushik (Wisden, India, Bangalore); Ex Comm: SS Ramaswamy (PTI, Mumbai), Biswajit Sharma (Tripura), R. Narayanan (TN), KC Vijayakumar (The Hindu, Bangalore), Ratan Chakraborty (Ananda bazar Patrika, Calcutta), Sambir Mohapatra (Odisha), Amitabha Das Sharma (The Hindu Calcutta). Kishor Bagde (Lokmat) and Suhas Nayse (The Times of India ) both co-opted members).

World Sports Journalists' Day Celebrated

Lokmat triumph in penalty shoot out

Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) celebrated World Sports Journalists' Day with lot of enthusiasm by organising penalty shootout competition for media persons at RTM Nagpur University playground on Wednesday
Continuing its tradition of doing some charity on the occasion of World Sports Journalists' Day, SJAN distributed kit bags to the members of Nagpur district women football team which emerged runners-up in recently held 1st Maharashtra Inter-District Football Tournament. 
In penalty shootout contest, Lokmat comprising Nitin Pataria, Devendra Sadavarti and Nitin Shriwas defeated The Times of India 2 (represented by Harshad Pandharipande, Rahul Soman and Ashish Kumar) 2-1 to win the title. 
In a third place tie, TOI 6 consisting Jaideep Tambe, Samresh Acharya and Amlendu Kumar overcame Nagpur Press Photographers' Association (NPPA) 4-2 via  tie breaker . NPPA was represented by Aniruddha Dinore, Sudarshan Sakharkar and Sandeep Gudghate. 
Vice-president of Nagpur District Football Association (NDFA) Salim Baig, director of Department of Sports and Physical Education of RTM Nagpur University Dr Dhananjay Welukar, Shiv Chhatrapati awardee Girish Gadge and Prof. Atmaram Pande of Big Ben Football Club distributed the prizes.
