Tremendous response to SJAN Media Walkathon

Korudkar, Rahate, Shubhangi, Lata, Aman walk to glory


Braving the chill Ranjit Korudkar, Shashikant Rahate, Shubhangi Jagtap, Lata Hatwar and Aman Chore excelled in their respective categories in Media Walkathon 2018 organisex by Sports Journalists Association of Nagpur of Nagpur in association with Tirupati Urban Co-Operative Bank Ltd. at Ambedkar College ground on Sunday.

CEO of Tirupati Bank Rahendra Raut, vice principal of Dr Ambedkar College Dr Arvind Joshi, NDFA vice presisent Abdul Latif and NDAA secretary Dr Sharad Suryavanshi distributed the prizes. SJAN president Kishor Bagde also shared the dais. Dr Ram Thakur conducted the proceedings.

Laxman arrives in city to present SJAN awards

Former Indian cricket star VVS Laxman has arrived here on Friday. The stylish batsman will grace the SJAN-Raisoni Achievers Annual Sports Awards function, organized by the Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur, slated to be held on Saturday at the Nagpur Press Club Convention Centre, opposite Institute of Science, Civil Lines, at 11 am.

Chairman of Raisoni Group Sunil Raisoni will preside over the function. President of Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) Arun Lakhani, executive director of Raisoni Group Nitin Tatiya, MLA Sameer Meghe, MLC Prof Anil Sole and Baidyanath director Siddhesh Sharma will be the guests of honour.
During the function, Vidarbha pace sensation Ranjeesh Gurbani, talented badminton player Vaishnavi Bhale, budding cricketer Atharva Taide, athlete Rutuja Shende, noted sports organizer Kamil Ansari, Jyotiba College of Physical Education, New English High School, Congress Nagar, will be honoured.
Gurbani has emerged as the second highest wicket-taker of the last Ranji season. He will get GH Raisoni Trophy for best senior sportsman.
Former India No. 2 shuttler Vaishnavi will get GH Raisoni Trophy for best senior sportswoman. Atharva will be honoured with GH Raisoni Trophy for best junior sportsperson.
Ace long distance runner Rutuja will receive Baidyanath Trophy for best junior female player.
Veteran sports organizer Kamil Ansari will be awarded Meeradevi Dasture Trophy for promoting sports.
New English High School, Congress Nagar will receive Centre Point School trophy for the promotion of sports. Jyotiba College of Physical Education (JCPE) will get KC Bajaj Memorial Trophy for their services to the sports.






Raisoni Achievers-SJAN Awards 2018 Announced

Gurbani, Bhale, Taide, Shende to get SJAN achievers awards


Vidarbha pace sensation Rajneesh Gurbani, talented badminton player Vaishnavi Bhale, budding cricketer Atharva Taide, upcoming athlete Rutuja Shende and noted sports organizer Kamil Ansari will be honoured by the Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) and Raisoni Group of Institutions during the annual awards function at the Press Club Convention Centre on November 24 at 11 am.

Cricket legend VVS Laxman will be the chief guest. Chairman of Raisoni Group Sunil Raisoni will preside over the function. Besides individual sportspersons, New English High School, Congress Nagar and Jyotiba College of Physical Education will be awarded for their contributions in the field of sports.

Gurbani, who is representing India 'A' in New Zealand, was instrumental in winning the coveted Ranji Trophy for Vidarbha last season and hogged the limelight by taking a sensational hat-trick against Delhi in the final at Indore. He emerged second highest wicket-taker of the season. He will get GH Raisoni Trophy for best senior sportsman.

Vaishnavi became the first city shuttler to play in the Uber Cup when she represented the Indian team at Bangkok in May this year. She achieved the career-best ranking of India No. 2 in women’s singles early this year. The 22-year-old city shuttler created a unique record when she represented the Indian University badminton team at the World University Games three years in succession. She will get GH Raisoni Trophy for best senior sportswoman.

Atharva was the skipper of Vidarbha U-19 team which won its maiden Cooch Behar Trophy in January to script history. In the final against Madhya Pradesh, he matched the feat of big-hitter Yuvraj Singh, following a brilliant knock of 320 runs. Taide continued his dream run at the international level by scoring consecutive hundreds in India U-19s tour of Sri Lanka. On the basis of this outstanding performance he is representing Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy in the current season. He will be honoured with GH Raisoni Trophy for Best Junior Sportsperson.

Rutuja Shende, an ace city athlete brought laurels to the state by clinching a gold medal in 2000m steeplechase event during 34th Junior National Athletics Championship at Ranchi this month. She will receive Baidyanath Trophy for best junior female player.

Kamil Ansari has been the president of 100-year old Young Muslim Football Club for more than two decades. Under his guidance, YMFC won the coveted Elite Division Football League title for four years. He will be awarded Meeradevi Dasture Trophy for promoting sports.

New English High School, Congress Nagar will receive Centre Point School trophy for the promotion of sports. Jyotiba College of Physical Education (JCPE) will get KC Bajaj Memorial Trophy for their services to the sports.
