Inter-school Olympics quiz competition today

As many as 36 teams from across the Nagpur will be in action during the inter-school quiz competition on Olympic Games which will be held at the Riaan Tower, Sadar, on Wednesday. 

The competition will begin at 9.30 am.

The day-long quiz competition organised jointly by SGR Knowledge Foundation and Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) is supported by the Raisoni Education and District Sports Office (DSO), Nagpur.

In anticipation of the 2024 Paris Games which commences on July 26, SJAN and SGR Knowledge Foundation jointly aim to foster awareness and enthusiasm among students of Nagpur regarding the prestigious global event.

The quiz competition on the multisport event will provide a platform to students to showcase their knowledge, develop teamwork and enjoy a day of healthy competition.

The top four finishers of the quiz competition will take home a handful of cash rewards along with trophies and mementoes and certificates. While the winning team will be richer by Rs 7,000, the team finishing second will win Rs 5,000. The third and fourth placed teams will get Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,500 respectively.

Prizes will be distributed by Sunil Raisoni, Chairman, Raisoni Education. On the occasion, District Sports Officer Pallavi Dhatrak and Director of Raisoni Education Palakh Raisoni will share the dais as guests of honour.

All the participating students will be given participation certificates and refreshments. 

Students of Sadabai Raisoni Women’s College, Nagpur will be the volunteers during the competition.

World Sports Journalists’ Day celebrated

Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) celebrated World Sports Journalists’ Day by felicitating talented and medal winning athletes of district.
The athletes brought laurels to the district by winning medals in the recently concluded Maharashtra State Athletics Championship.
On the occasion, Girish Vyas, Vice-President Carrom Federation of India and Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, former international athlete and Secretary of Nagpur District Athletics Association were present as the guests.
The athletes were felicitated by the guests during the prorgamme held at SJAN Office in Vivekanand Nagar.
Vyas, himself a former kabaddi player, lauded the work of sports journalists and said that it is because of these sports reporters, the sportspersons get recognition.
“They (sports journalists) have their limitations but they still try to highlight the achievements of sportspersons,” he stated.
Dr Suryawanshi said that all athletes should learn how to deal with the scribes as it is one of the important aspects of their journey to the top.
“Once you start representing the country, you will have to face sports journalists and their queries. You should prepare yourself from now onwards,” he opined.
Those who were felicitated include Ujwal Kalasit, Gopal Palandurkar, Adarsh Bhure, Nayan Sarde, Sakshi Tambhake, Bhavyashree Mahalle, Tejaswini Lambhkane, Neha Dhabale, Pratik Kanere, Romesh Shende, Ashutosh Bawane, Ishan Khodke, Lacha Veladhi, Palash Gadware, Chaitali Borekar, Bhuwaneshwari Masram, Pravin Kumar, Vishal Kore, Anushka Bodile, Sanika Mangar, Dhanashri Kamthe, Siyongita Misar, Saurav Tiwari, Riya Dohatare.
SJAN President Dr Ram Thakur, Secretary Paritosh Pramanik and other members were present on the occasion. Naresh Shelke conducted the programme.

एसजेएएनतर्फे युवा अॅथलिट्स सम्मानित

नागपूर, ता. २ : जागतिक क्रीडा पत्रकार दिनानिमित्त स्पोर्ट्स जर्नलिस्ट असोसिएशन ऑफ नागपूर (एसजेएएन) तर्फे मंगळवारी शहरातील युवा अॅथलिट्सचा सत्कार करण्यात आला.
विवेकानंदनगरस्थित एसजेएएन कार्यालयात आयोजित या कार्यक्रमाला भारतीय कॅरम महासंघाचे उपाध्यक्ष गिरिश व्यास मुख्य अतिथी म्हणून उपस्थित होते. व्यासपीठावर नागपूर जिल्हा अॅथलेटिक्स असोसिएशनचे सचिव डॉ. शरद सूर्यवंशी, एसजेएएनचे अध्यक्ष डॉ. राम ठाकूर व सचिव परितोष प्रमाणिक उपस्थित होते. यावेळी मान्यवरांच्या हस्ते सर्व अॅथलिट्सना भेटवस्तू देऊन गौरविण्यात आले.
सम्मानित खेळाडूंनी गेल्या महिन्यात नागपुरात पार पडलेल्या राज्यस्तरीय वरिष्ठ गट अॅथलेटिक्स स्पर्धेतील विविध प्रकारांमध्ये नागपूर जिल्ह्याला पदके मिळवून दिली होती. नरेश शेळके यांनी कार्यक्रमाचे संचालन केले.

एसजेएएन ने खिलाड़ियों को सम्मानित किया
– विश्व खेल पत्रकारिता दिवस
स्पोर्ट्स जर्नलिस्ट एसोसिएशन ऑफ नागपुर (एसजेएएन) द्वारा विश्व खेल पत्रकारिता दिवस के उपलक्ष्य में मंगलवार को प्रतिभावान और उदयीमान खिलाड़ियों का सत्कार किया गया. मुख्य अतिथि कैरम फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडिया के उपाध्यक्ष गिरिश व्यास और नागपुर जिला एथलेटिक्स एसोसिएशन के सचिव डॉ. शरद सूर्यवंशी ने विवेकानंद नगर स्थित एसजेएएन ऑफिस में आयोजित कार्यक्रम में खिलाड़ियों को सम्मानित किया. सम्मानित खिलाड़ियों ने पिछले महीने नागपुर में आयोजित राज्य स्तरीय सीनियर एथलेटिक्स चैंपियनशिप में अलग–अलग प्रतियोगिता में पदक जीतने में सफलता अर्जित किया. इस मौके पर एसजेएएन के अध्यक्ष डॉ. राम ठाकुर, सचिव परितोष प्रमाणिक सहित अन्य सदस्य मौजूद थे. नरेश शेल्के ने मंच का संचालन किया.
