Jain, Ahmed, Sharma, Sarangi enter semis






 



Top seed Ashish Jain, second seed Mahesh Sarangi, fourth seed Rajesh Sharma and unseeded SS Ahmed made it to the semi-finals of the singles category in the ongoing Suyash Herbal Badminton Tournament for Mediapersons at Subhedar Badminton Hall.
The tournament is organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association with Physical Education and Sports Department of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University and Nagpur District Badminton Association.
In the quarter-finals, Lokmat’s Jain got the better of The Hitavada’s Nikhil Dixit 15-4, 15-11 while Sarangi got walk over Vilas Tijare.
Fourth seed Sharma defeated Tanmay Moon 15-11, 15-6 and Ahmed ousted Raviraj Ambadwar 15-11, 15-11.
In women’s singles, top seed Minal Jain beat Shanu Sharma 15-0, 15-4 to make it to the semis.

Suyash Herbal Badminton meet for mediapersons begins

 




















 

Defending champion Ashish Jain of Lokmaat moved into the pre-quarterfinals in singles category of the Suyash Herbal Media Badminton Tournament organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) at Subhedar Hall, Ravi Nagar.
The tournament is being organised in association with Nagpur District Badminton Association (NDBA) and Department of Sports and Physical Education of RTM Nagpur University. Jain defeated Akash Masne15-2 15-3 to move into last 16. In another match Nikhil Dixit of The Hitavada defeated Navbharat’s Manish Shrivas 15-4, 15-5.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Vikas Ahuja, Director, Suyash Herbal.
Dr Satish Gawande, Deshmukh Mangesh Kashikar, Senior Vice President, Maharashtra Badminton Association and Secretary, Nagpur District Badminton Association, Dr Vishakha Joshi, Acting Director, Sports and Physical Education, RTMNU, Paritosh Pramanik, Secretary, SJAN, Nilesh Deshpande, Treasurer were also present.
Aditya Galande is tournament referee while Aditya Chilkulwar, Abhishek Hayaran, Gaurav Narnaware and Yatharth Meshram are the umpires.

Deep wins rifle shooting contest for SJAN membes












 

 

Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) celebrated National Sports Day, birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyanchand by organising a 10-metre rifle competition for its members.
The competition was held at Mahatma Phule Sports Complex, Shooting Range Swavlambi Nagar.
The event was organised in association with Orange City Sports Shooting Club and under the guidance of national shooter Anil Pande. Deep Sudhakar of ‘Lokmat Samachar’ won the contest with 48 points. He was followed by Nikhil Kelapure of ‘Navrashtra’ (40) and Anupam Soni of ‘The Hitavada’ (38).
Sports organiser Shailendra Ghate and former SJAN President Dr Ram Thakur distributed the prizes. Shreyash Ramteke and Sagar Dhote were the referees.

Olympics games quiz competition held


 

Bhavan's schools swept the QuizZest, a quiz competition on Olympic Games organised by SGR Knowledge Foundation and SJAN at Riaan Tower, Sadar on Wednesday.

Schools from Bhavan's won all the prizeson offer.
Bhavan's Trimurti Nagar garnered 11 points to claim the top spot.
BVM Wardha finished second with six points while BVM Civil Lines ended third with five points.
BVM, Chinchbhuvan were declared fourth on cumulative points.
Total 35 teams from different schools of the city participated in the competition.
Sunil Raisoni, Chairman, Raisoni Group of Institutions was the chief guest of the prize distribution function.
Palak Raisoni, Director, Raisoni Group and Mangesh Mopkar, international table tennis umpire were the other guests.
