लाखन जायस्वाल ने खेली विस्फोटक पारी

लाखन जायस्वाल (40), मन्नू बावा (नाबाद 21), नितीन बैतुले (22) और रोशन तांबोली (14) के उपयोगी पारियों की बदौलत तरुण भारत ने अंतर प्रेस क्रिकेट स्पर्धा में अपने अभियान का शानदार आगाज किया। वसंतनगर मैदान पर मंगलवार को खेले गए मुकाबले में तरुण भारत ने दैनिक भास्कर को 4 विकेट से मात दे दी। मैच में विजेता टीम के खिलाड़ियाें ने बल्लेबाजी के साथ गेंदबाजी और क्षेत्ररक्षण में भी बढ़िया प्रदर्शन किया। तरुण भारत ने दैनिक भास्कर द्वारा दिए गए 123 रनों के लक्ष्य को 14.5 ओवर में 6 विकेट गंवाकर हासिल कर लिया।
दैनिक भास्कर ने मैच में टॉस जीतकर पहले बल्लेबाजी करने का निर्णय लिया। पराजित टीम की शुरुआत अच्छी रही और दो ओवर की समाप्ति तक बिना विकेट खोए उसका स्कोर 20 रन था, लेकिन इसके बाद तरुण भारत के उमेश सरदार और अमर अणे ने सही लंबाई और दिशा के साथ गेंदबाजी करते हुए पराजित टीम के बल्लेबाजों पर दबाव ला दिया। जिसके कारण महज 12 रन के भीतर दैनिक भास्कर को तीन विकेट गिर गए। उसके स्टार बल्लेबाज श्रीकांत भालेराव को पारी के दौरान मांशपेशियों में खिंचाव का सामना करना पड़ा, जिसके बाद टीम उबर नहीं पाई। चेतन गडवाईकर ने एक छक्का और दो चौकों की मदद से 38 गेंदों में नाबाद 33 रनों की पारी खेलते हुए स्कोर को 122 तक पहुंचा दिया। विजेता टीम के लिए उमेश सरदार, मन्नू बावा ने दो-दो विकेट लिए, जबकि एक विकेट अमर अणे को हासिल हुआ।लक्ष्य का पीछा करने उतरे तरुण भारत को पहला विकेट शून्य के स्कोर पर गंवाना पड़ा, लेकिन इसके बाद लाखन और नितीन बैतुले ने दूसरे विकेट की साझेदारी में 45 रन जोड़ते हुए टीम को पटरी पर ला लिया। तरुण भारत ने छोटी-छोटी साझेदारी करते हुए लक्ष्य को हासिल किया। लाखन ने अपनी पारी के दौरान 25 गेंदों का सामना किया, जिसमें छह चौके शामिल है। बैतुले ने 21 गेंदों की पारी में 3 चौके जबकि मन्नू ने 14 गेंदों का सामना करते हुए 3 चौके जड़े। दैनिक भास्कर ने िलए सुजन मसिद ने 18 रन देकर तीन िवकेट लिए।

Hitavada off to a flying start

Defending champion The Hitavada began their campaign on winning note defeating Punyanagari by 50 runs in OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Twenty-20 Invitational Cricket Tournament at Dr Ambedkar College ground, Deekshabhoomi  on Monday. 

The tournament is organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur  (SJAN) in association with OCW and State Bank of India. 

Batting first The Hitavada piled up 222 for four in 20 overs. Anupam Timothy (62) and Kamlesh Waghire (43) gave them flying start and then Pankaj Borkar played an unbeaten knock of 54. Nikhil Dixit contributed 29. In reply, despite left-handed Pankaj Pande's fighting 96 run knock, Punyanagari were all out for 172 in 20 overs. Borkar and Kshitij Udar claimed three wickets each.

Earlier CEO of OCW Sanjay Roy, director KMP Singh, assistant general manager of SBI Mohan Changde, liaison officer and former Ranji captain Hemant Wasu and former MLA Mohan Mate inaugurated the tournament by releasing balloons in the air. 

SJAN president Kishor Bagde made introductory remarks. Member Satish Dandare conducted proceedings whereas treasurer Suhas Nayse proposed a vote of thanks.

Susheem Kolay claimed the Mughals catch of the match prize.

OCW Inter-Press cricket from today

The stage is set for 19th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) inn association with OCW and State Bank of India (SBI). The tournament will begin with an inaugural encounter between defending champion The Hitavada and Punyanagari at Dr Ambedkar College ground Deekshabhoomi.
The tournament will be inaugurated on Monday at 9 a.m. CEO of OCW Sanjay Roy, director KMP Singh, former MLA Mohan Mate, assistant general manager of SBI Mohan Changde , SBI liasoning officer and former Ranji captain Hemant Wasu will grace the occasion.
Eight teams are participating in the tournament and they have been divided in two groups. Pool A include The Hitavada, Punyanagari, Lokshahi Varta and Loksatta. Group B comprises of last year's runners up Lokmat, Times of India-MT, Dainik Bhaskar and Tarun Bharat. Top two teams will qualify for the semis.
Earlier dresses were distributed to the players at a function held at SJAN office. OCW PRO Sachin Dravekar, Mohan Changde, Hemant Wasu and vice-principal of Dr Ambedkar College Dr Arvind Joshi unveiled the dresses and distributed it to the players.
SJAN president Kishor Bagde and secretary Sandeep dabhekar also shared the dais. Member Sujan Masid conducted the proceedings.

Bhoomipujan of Office Developmental Works held

NMC committed for sports development: Joshi

Former Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Standing Committee chairman and corporator Sandeep Joshi said NMC is committed for the development of sports in the city.
He was speaking during the bhoomipujan of developmental works at Indoor sports complex and SJAN office premises on Monday.
Rs 10 lakh has been sanctioned from chief minister's funds for various developmental works that will be completed soon.
Joshi who is also the president of Nagpur District Basketball Association further said NMC has already  developed various sporting facilities in the city.  There is also a proposal to construct five indoor sports complexes in South-West constituency in next five years from chief minister's funds.
Corporator Usha Nishitkar, Adv. Sarang Deo, Gajanan Nishitkar, Abhimanyu Dube, Suhas Barai, Wasudeorao Chavan, Vinod Shinde, Rajesh Patil, Sandeep Chimote, Shilpa Shende, Amit Deshpande Apurva Auntiwale and SJAN officials including president Kishor Bagde, secretary Sandeep Dabhekar, vice-president Nilesh Deshpande, treasurer Suhas Nayse members Sujan Masid, Piyush Patil and others were also present on the occasion.
