SJAN Inter-Press T-20 Cricket Tournament
Nagpur: Nitin Pataria, who is in splendid form, once again delivered a stellar performance with both bat and ball, propelling defending champions Lokmat into the final of the 26th Inter-Press T-20 Cricket Tournament. In the second semi-final of the tournament organized by the Sports Journalists Association of Nagpur (SJAAN) at Vasant Nagar ground on Tuesday, Lokmat defeated Navbharat by 19 runs.
Batting first, Lokmat scored 145 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Nitin Patariya played a crucial innings of 41 runs. He steadied the team with a 73-run partnership for the 2nd wicket alongside captain Amit Khodke (32). Thereafter, Sarang Walwatkar scored an aggressive 22 and Nitin Shrivastav contributed an attacking 27 runs to strengthen the score. From Navbharat's side, Junaid Sheikh picked up 3 wickets conceding 20 runs, while Manish Shrivastav claimed 2 wickets.
Sadavarti-Khadke Shared 5 Wickets
Chasing the target, Navbharat's batsmen put up a fight, but the team could only manage 126 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted overs. Junaid scored 27, Ujjwal Kumar Sinha made 29, and Sohel Khan contributed 15 runs, but they could not guide the team to the target. From Lokmat's side, Devendra Sadavarti took 3 wickets conceding 24 runs, while Sachin Khadke picked up 2 wickets giving away 30 runs. Deep Sudhakar, Patariya, and Sharad Mishra claimed 1 wicket each. Rokde Jewellers' Marketing Manager Abhishek Ingle and Marketing Co-ordinator Aniket Apte presented Patariya with the 'Player of the Match' award. In the final on Thursday, Lokmat will face The Times of India.
