20th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Twenty20 Cricket (Day-5)

Khodke, Mishra lead Lokmat to second win





Nagpur: Skipper Amit Khodke led from the front to guide Lokmat to eight-wicket victory against Punyanagari in the 20th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament at Vasant Nagar ground here on Tuesday.

The annual tourney is being organized by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur in association with OCW and SBI.

Batting first, Punyanagari were all out for 126. Pankaj Pande was the top-scorer with 41 runs. Sharad Mishra picked up three wickets.

Lokmat chased down the target in 10.1 overs with eight wickets to spare. Khodke remained not out on 60. Nitin Patariya (28) and Sharad Mishra (27) also batted well.

In another match played at the Ambedkar College ground, Hitavada thrashed Tarun Bharat by 90 runs. Opting to bat, Hitavada amassed 198, courtesy 73-run knock by Pankaj Boarkar. In reply, Tarun Bharat were restricted to 108-9 in 20 overs. All-rounder Borkar was adjudged man-of-the-match. Tarun Bharat’s Umesh Sardar picked up Mughals best catch.

On Friday, The Times of India-Maharashtra Times will play against Dainik Bhaskar, while Loksatta will face Deshonnati at the Vasant Nagar ground at 9.30 am.

Bhaik-giri: Rupesh slams 152, hits 6 sixes in 1 over

Bhaik’s explosive 152 not out steers
TOI to record-breaking 198-run win

 


A record-creating whirlwind knock by Rupesh Bhaik guided The Times of India-Maharashtra Times (TOI-MT) to a huge 198-run win over Loksatta in a league match of 20th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament at Vasant Nagar ground here on Tuesday. The tournament is being organized by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur in association with OCW and SBI.

The 198-run victory by TOI-MT is the biggest in terms of runs in the 20-year-tournament history.
Bhaik slammed 15 sixes and ten boundaries to knock off 152 runs in just 42 balls to help TOI-MT pile up 260 for 5 in 20 overs. The tall right-hand batsman also became the first one in the 20-year history of the tournament to hit six sixes in one over.
Bhaik achieved the feat in the 19th over of the TOI-MT Innings. The over produced whopping 47 runs as apart from the sixes, Bhaik knocked off two fours on the no-balls bowled by the bowler.
Bhaik, the batting mainstay of the TOI, walked to the crease with his team in a spot of bother at 45 for 2 in 6.1 overs. Bhaik, with his powerful hitting over the next 13.5 overs, not only turned the game on its head but also created a new record.
After the departure of opener Subodh Ratnaparkhi, who hit seven boundaries in his 29-ball 40, Bhaik stitched two big partnerships. He first added 73 runs in 33 balls in company of Gaurav Borkar, who chipped in with 32 runs off 22 balls.

Later, Bhaik with Suhas Nayse added 113 runs in just 34 balls. Nayse contributed 11 runs from as many balls in the fifth wicket partnership while Bhaik carted the bowlers all around to do the bulk of scoring. It was second 100-run partnership between the two in as many matches.
Captain Avishkar Deshmukh stood out among the Loksatta bowlers as he picked up a wicket while giving away just 18 runs in four overs.
Afterwards, TOI-MT new-ball bowler Prashant Nimbarte recorded a five-wicket haul as Loksatta were bowled out for 63 in 16.1 overs. Nimbarte returned with impressive figures of 5 for 11. Nayse picked up two wickets for 12 runs while off spinners Faizul Qamar and Vinay Pande took one wicket each.
The other match of the day turned out to be a low-scoring affair with Lokshahi Varta defeating Deshonnati by 20 runs. Batting first, Lokshahi Varta posted 115 runs with man of the match Anup Motghare top-scoring with 30 runs. Lokshahi bowlers then wrapped up Deshonnati for just 85 runs.

Daf shines in Hitavada victory


Ravi Daf displayed all-round performance as The Hitavada drubbed Sakal by 141 runs in 20th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament at Vasant Nagar ground on Tuesday.
The tournament has been organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur in association with OCW and SBI. Batting first The Hitavada amassed 236 fof 5 in 20 overs. Ravi Daf (71), Pradeep Kumar Yadav (57* ) and Kamlesh Waghire (52) scored strokeful half centuries. 
In reply, Sakal were bundled out for 95 in 17.2 overs. Pankaj Borkar claimed three wickets for 10. Anupam Timothy and Ravi Daf got two each. In another match, Punyanagari scored 122 all out with Shridhar Hatagade scoring highest 29. In reply, Tarun Bharat were all out for a poor total of 85. Noted sports organiser Deven Dasture distributed prizes.

20th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Twenty20 Cricket (Day-2)

Big wins for TOI, Lokshahi Varta


The Times of India (TOI) and Lokshahi Varta recorded big victories over their opponents in 20th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament on Monday.

The tournament has been organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association with OCW and SBI.
At Ambedkar College ground, Rupesh Bhaik slammed 25-ball 69 consisting six sixes an five boundaries as TOI posted  a huge total of 210 for 5 in 20 overs. Suhas Nayse remained unbeaten in 38. Vinay Pandey (36) and Subodh Ratnaparkhi (22) were other scorers.
In reply, Deshonnati were all out for 76 in 18.5 overs thanks to left-arm spinner Ramamurti Nerley who claimed four wickets and he was ably supported by Vinay Pandey (3 fo 2).
At Vasant Nagar ground, batting first Dainik Bhaskar were all out for 116 in 20 overs. Shrikant Bhalerao top scored with 54. In reply, Lokshahi Varta achieved the target losing just one wicket in 9.4 overs.

 Opener Nikhil Kelapure smashed unbeaten 72 hitting 12 boundaries and two sixes. Sandip Ganar scored 30 with the help of seven boundaries. Senior coach Sunil Mujumdar and NDBA secretary Mangesh Kashikar distributed the man-of-the-match prizes. Deven Dasture has sponsored the man-of-the-match cash prizes in the memory of Dinanath Dasture.
