Badminton tournament for media persons begins

Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) organised Suyash Healthcare Badminton Tournament For Media Employees at Subhedar Hall, Ravi Nagar on Friday. 

The tournament is being organised in association with the Department of Sports and Physical Education of RTM Nagpur University and Nagpur District Badminton Association (NDBA).

Vikas Ahuja of Suyash Healthcare Group, Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Director of Department of Sports and Physical Education, RTM Nagpur University and Dr Satish Gawande inaugurated the competition. 

SJAN Secretary Paritosh Pramanik, Treasurer Nilesh Deshpande, Tournament Convenor Sujan Masid, Naresh Shelke, Nikhil Kelapure and others were present. 

Naresh Shelke conducted the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.

Media badminton tourney from Friday (May 5)

Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) is organising Suyash Herbal badminton tournament for media employees from  Friday at Subhedar Hall, Amravati road from 9.15 am to 12 noon.

The tournament is being organised in association with the Department of Sports and Physical Education of RTM Nagpur University and Nagpur District Badminton Association (NDBA).

Lokmat's Ashish Jain has been given top seeding in the men's singles whereas Mahesh Sarangi (Navbharat) is seeded two. In the doubles, Mahesh Sarangi- SS Ahmed have been given top billing whereas Ashish Jain-Raviraj Ambadwar are seeded two. In the women's singles Meenal Jain (Lokmat) has been given top seeding.

Vikas Ahuja of Suyash Healthcare Group, director of Department of Sports and Physical Education of RTM Nagpur University Dr Sharad Suryawanshi and the senior vice president of Maharashtra Badminton Association and NDBA secretary Mangesh Kashikar will grace the inaugural function at 10 a.m. However the matches will begin at 9.15 a.m.

Three events including men's singles, men's doubles and women's singles will be organised. Cash prizes and attractive trophies will be given to winners, runners-up and semi-finalists. 

Media badminton tourney from May 5

Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) is organising Suyash Herbal Badminton Tournament for media employees from  May 5 to 7 at Subhedar Hall, Amravati Road from 9 am to 12 noon. The tournament will be organised in association with Department of Sports and Physical Education of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University and Nagpur District Badminton Association (NDBA).

Three events including men’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s singles will be organised. 

Cash prizes and attractive trophies will be given to winners, runners and semi-finalists. Women singles round will depend on number of entries.

The last date for entry is May 2 by 5 pm and the same can be confirmed with sports desk of respective newspapers. Sujan Masid is the convener of the tournament.

'स्पोर्टस जर्नलिस्टस असोसिएशन ऑफ नागपूरची वार्षिक क्रिकेट स्पर्धा एक हॅपनिंग इव्हेंट'

स्पोर्टस जर्नलिस्टस असोसिएशन ऑफ नागपूरची वार्षिक क्रिकेट स्पर्धा म्हणजे नागपूरच्या पत्रकारजगतातील हॅपनिंग इव्हेंट असतो. वर्षभर न भेटणारे, विविध वृत्तपत्रांमध्ये काम करणारे कितीतरी जण एकाच ठिकाणी भेटण्याचे हक्काचे ठिकाण म्हणजे एसजेएएनची क्रिकेट स्पर्धा.
करोनाकाळात इतरांच्या प्रत्येक प्रकारच्या समस्यांबद्दल लिहिणाऱ्या वृत्तपत्रसृष्टीलाही या कठीण काळाच्या अनेक झळा बसल्या. संस्थांचे आर्थिक नुकसान, आपल्याच सहकाऱ्यांच्या नोकऱ्या जाणे, इतर उलथापालथी आणि एकंदर अनिश्चितता वृत्तपत्रांनी अनुभवली. त्यामुळे, २०२० नंतर ही क्रिकेट स्पर्धा होऊच शकली नाही. ती तशी झाली असती तर या स्पर्धेचे यंदाचे २५ वे वर्ष राहिले असते.
यंदाही अनिश्चितता होतीच. स्पर्धा होईल की नाही, याची खात्री नव्हती. पण, संघटनेच्या काही सदस्यांना जोर लावला, इतरांनी बळ दिले आणि स्पर्धेचा मुहूर्त ठरला. अपवाद वगळता सर्वच संघांसाठी १५ जणांचा संघ उभा कसा करायचा यापासून सगळ्याच अडचणी होत्या. आधीच्या संघातील चांगल्या खेळाडूंच्या नोकऱ्या गेलेल्या, नव्या खेळाडूंची मारामार, शारीरिक तंदुरुस्तीची वानवा अशा एक ना अनेक अडचणी समोर होत्या. पण, त्यातूनही सहा संघ उभे राहिले. १० ते १५ दिवसांचा का होईना, पण सराव केला आणि स्पर्धा सुरू झाली.

आपापल्या क्षमतेनुसार सगळे संघ लढले आणि सर्वोत्तम खेळ केला. शारीरिक तंदुरुस्ती नसणे, कमी सराव, वाढलेले वय यांचे परिणाम खेळाडूंच्या दुखापतीत झाले. दुखणारे गुडघे, मांड्या, पाय, कंबर खांदे घेऊनही जिद्दीने सगळे सामने खेळले गेले. खेळाडूंनी खेळण्याची जिगर दाखविली आणि स्पर्धेचा आनंदही घेतला. स्पर्धेत लोकमतने विजेतेपद आणि पुण्यनगरीने उपविजेतेपद पटकावले. पण, त्या पलीकडे जात या स्पर्धेकडे बघितले पाहिजे. असंख्य अडचणींवर मात करीत खेळली गेलेली ही स्पर्धा म्हणजे सहभागी सगळ्याच संघांचा विजय आहे. यंदा ही स्पर्धा खेळली जाणे आणि या स्पर्धेत सहभागी होऊन संपूर्ण उत्साहाने खेळणे, हा खरा विजय नागपूरच्या पत्रसृष्टीच्या या क्रिकेट स्पर्धेने नोंदविला आहे. हा सर्व संघानी एकत्रितपणे साजरा करायला हवा असा विजय आहे.  
आणि अर्थात, स्पोर्टस जर्नलिस्टस असोसिएशन ऑफ नागपूरचे विशेष अभिनंदन.

Lokmat retain cricket crown

Lokmat retained the crown thrashing Punyanagari by a massive margin of 136 runs in OCW-SJAN 23rd Inter-Press Invitational T20 Cricket Tournament that concluded at Dr Ambedkar College ground here on Saturday.
The credit of Lokma't comprehensive victory goes to explosive batsman Nitin Pataria who sent the rival bowlers on a leather hunt and smashed 127 in just 51 balls hitting 11 sixes and equal number of boundaries. His knock helped Lokmat to pile up the highest total of the tournament this season (211 for 9 in 20 overs). At one stage Lokmat were struggling on 44 for 4 but then Pataria and Nitin Shriwas (25,19b, 3x4) dominated the rival bowlers and helped Lokmat cross 200-run mark. Opener Sharad Mishra contributed 17 whereas coming down the order Yogesh Pande scored 12 runs in five balls.
In reply, Punyanagari lost their wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for a paltry 75  in 14.5 overs. Only Shreedhar Hatagade (22) and captain Pankaj Pande (13) showed some resistance. For Lokmat, Sarang Walwatkar (2-0-9-2), Pravin Lokhande (4-0-10-2) and Sharad Mishra (3-0-6-2) shared six wickets between them.
OCW Director KMP Singh was the chief guest of the prize distribution function. Ironman Rajendra Jaiswal, Lakhan Jaiswal and Shrirang Tembhekar of Vicco were also present on the occasion. SJAN member Naresh Shelke conducted the proceedings and proposed a vote of thanks.
