Lokmat storm into final
Sachin Khadke stole the limelight with his all-round performance as Lokmat thrashed Times of India by 91 runs to make it to the final of SMHRC-SJAN 25th Inter-Press T20 Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur at Vasant Nagar ground.
Lokmat will take on Navbharat in the final to be played on Sunday.
Electing to bat first, Lokmat posted 134 for seven with Sarang Walvatkar hitting 31 (29 balls) and Khadke contributing 29 from 26 deliveries.
For Times of India, Sandeep Dabhekar took three wickets while Prashant Nimbarte snared two.
In reply, Times of India were unable to withstand the fine spin bowling from Khade (4-1-17-3) as they were all out for a paltry 43 in nine overs thus losing the match by 91 runs. His scalps included Harshal Kuthe, Mandar Moroney and Rammurthy Nerley.
This was after Deep Sudhakar (3-0-18-3) gave Lokmat a perfect start as he bowled superb medium pace deliveries cart-wheeling the stumps of openers Sandeep Dabhekar and Piyush Patil. He later took the wicket of Liladhar Funde.
Dr Vasant Gawande, Chief Medical Superintendent, SMHRC, gave the man of the match award to Khadke.
