Navbharat defeated Sakal by five wickets to make it to the semi-finals of the ongoing SMHRC-SJAN 25th Inter-Press T20 Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur at Vasant Nagar ground.
With this win Navbharat and Lokmat made it to the last four while Sakal bowed out of the competition on inferior net run rate. All the three teams finished with two points each. Navbharat topped the group with 0.217 while Lokmat gathered -.026. The loss in their last Super Six match pushed Sakal to third position with -0.144 net run rate.
Sakal posted 146 for 8 in 20 overs with Sumit Admane top scoring with 60 runs from 39 balls. He three sixes and seven boundaries.
Avishkar Deshmukh added 31.
For Navbharat, Nilesh Doye took three wickets while Shripad Panchbhai took two.
In reply, Navbharat achieved the target in 14.3 overs losing five wickets. Nikhil Kelapure hit 35 from 28 balls and Manish Shriwas scored an unbeaten 22-ball 28 runs with two fours and a six.
Admane took three wickets while Pravin Wankhede one.
Shrirang Tembhekar, Marketing Head of Dinshaw’s gave the man of the match award to Doye.
