Nitin Baitule’s all-round show helped Sakal beat Dainik Bhaskar by four wickets and make it to the second round of the ongoing SMHRC-SJAN 25th Inter-Press T20 Cricket Tournament.
The tournament is organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur at Vasant Nagar ground.
Batting first, Dainik Bhaskar were restricted at 129 in 20 overs with Baitule taking two wickets for 14 runs.
Sudhir Mehere was the top run getter for Dainik Bhaskar with and unbeaten 24 while Amol Nandurkar scored 20.
Sumit Admane took two wickets for Sakal.
In return, Sakal knocked off the target in 16 overs losing six wickets.
Baitule hit a 25-ball 36 with the help of eight boundaries while Avishkar Deshmukh scored 35.
For Dainik Bhaskar, Sujan Masid and Hitendra Wanjari took two wickets each.
Dr Babanrao Taiwade gave away the man of the match award to Baitule.
From Group A, Lokmat and Times of India, from Groupn B Punyanagari and Navbharat and from Group C, Sakal and Tarun Bharat made it to round two while Loksatta, Deshonnati and Dainik Bhaskar bowed out of the tournament.
