New SJFI body elected

Nagpur, June 26: Kishor Bagde of Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) has been elected as the vice-president of Sports Journalists’ Federation of India (SJFI) during an annual general body meeting of the federation held in the city on Sunday.

Whole 15-member body was elected unopposed. Assam’s Subodh Baruah has been elected new president for two year term. A Vinod of Kerala has been elected as new secretary. Dara Pochkanwala was the returning officer and he was assisted by Amit Shah.

Lokmat's Jain bags double crown again


Lokmat's Ashish Jain once again proved his dominance clinching double crown in Shree Sports sponsored 12th Badminton Tournament for Media Employees organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur at Subhedar Hall on Monday.
Jain, who secured twin titles last year also, first claimed men's singles title defeating  his arch rival Suhas Nayse (TOI) 21-17, 21-16. In doubles pairing with young Raviraj Ambadwar he quelled the spirited challenge of Nayse-Fakruddin Bora 20-22, 21-13, 21-14.
In the women's final, Shrusti Wanare of TOI pipped Namrata Ghartule 30-29 by just one point.
Earlier in the singles semis, Jain got the better of Sumit Vishwakarma (Lokshahi Varta) 21-17, 21-14. Suhas Nayse sidelined Sujan Masid (Dainik Bhaskar ) 21-16, 21-7. In doubles Jain-Ambadwar knocked out Subodh Ratnaparkhi- Sandeep Wardhandd 21-13, 21-16 whereas Nayse-Fakruddin downed Devendra Sadavartui- Rajesh Sharma 21-9, 21-8.
Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) president Arun Lakhanee, coordinator of PGTD of Physical Education of RTM Nagpur Universwity Keshav Bhagat, former Vidarbha Ranji player Samir Khare and SJAN president Kishor Bagde distributed the prizes.
SJAN member Satish Dandare conducted the proceedings.

Men's doubles (semis): Ashish Jain- Rariraj Ambadwar (Lokmat) bt Subodh Ratnaparkhi-Sandeep Wardhane (TOI) 21-13, 21-6; Suhas Nayse- Fakruddin Bora (TOI) bt Devendra Sadavarti-Rajesh Sharma (Lokmat) 21-9, 21-8.
Final: Ashish Jain-Raviraj Ambadwar bt Suhas Nayse- Fakruddin Bora 20-22, 21-13, 21-14.
