Mishra stars in Lokmat's huge victory

ToI drub Deshonnati

In-form Sharad Mishra's all-round performance (53 runs & four wickets) enabled Lokmat thrash Loksatta by a huge margin of 158 runs in ongoing 16th Vicco-SJAN Inter-Press Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Vasant Nagar ground on Friday. 
By winning both league matches, Lokmat entered the super six. The tournament has been organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur. Vicco Laboratories is the main sponsor of the tournament while Motion Tutorials is the co-sponsor. 
Batting first Lokmat made a mockery of Loksatta bowlers and piled up a huge total of 234 losing five wickets. Mishra (53, 33b, 1x6, 8x4) and Nitin Patariya (24, 12 b, 1x6, 4x4) gave flying start making 49-run partnership for first wicket. After the departure of Patariya skipper Amit Khodke punished the bowlers and knocked off 50 in 29 balls with the help of eight boundaries. Both Mishra and Khodke stitched up 81 run partnership for second wicket. Amit Roshankhede remained not out on 29 while Nitin Shriwas contributed 25. 
For Loksatta, Manoj Joshi claimed two wickets for 47 runs. 
Chasing a huge target, Loksatta were bundled out for a paltry 76 runs in 17.4 overs. Only Pramod Pardhi (20) and Sudarshan Sakharkar (10) managed to cross the double figures. For Lokmat, batting hero Sharad Mishra captured four wickets for 11. Devendra Sadavarti got 2 for 8. Mishra was declared man-of-the-match. 
At Ambedkar College ground, The Times of India defeated Deshonnati by 43 runs. Batting first, TOI made 112 all out in 20 overs. Deepak Gurbani top scored with 26. Faizul Qumar (22) and Subodh Ratnaparkhi (21) were other scorers. For Deshonnati, Chetan Kamanwar (3 for 22) was the most successful bowler. Dhananjay Misar and Rajesh Mishra got two each. 
In reply, Deshonnati were bowled out for 69 in 17.1 overs. Only Satish Kanchanwar (15) and Chetan Kamanwar (13) were in double figures while rest of the batsmen failed miserably. For TOI, Prashant Nimbarte finished with an impressive figure of 4-1-7-4. He was ably supported by Sandeep Dabhekar (2 for 13) and Faizul Qumar (2 for 25). Nimbarte was declared  man-of-the-match.

Bhaik fashions TOI victory

Skipper Rupesh Bhaik's quickfire half century helped The Times of India (TOI) drub Lokshahi Varta by 98 runs at Ambedkar College ground in 16th Vicco-SJAN Inter-Press T20 Cricket Tournament on Thursday.
The tournament has been organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN). Vicco Laboratories is the main sponsor of the tournament while Motion Tutorials is the co-sponsor. At Vasant Nagar ground, Tarun Bharat kept their hopes alive defeating Dainik Bhaskar by 14 runs.
At Ambedkar College ground, batting first TOI piled up 204 losing four wickets in 20 overs. Bhaik's  69-run knock in 34 balls  was studded with four sixes and seven boundaries. Piyush Patil (34, 20b, 4x4), opener Subodh Ratnaparkhi (26, 24b, 1x6, 3x4) and Suhas Nayse (22, 23b, 1x4) were other scorers.
For Lokshahi Varta, Abhay Dubey claimed two wickets for 46 runs. In reply, Lokshahi Varta lost their wickets at regular interval and were restricted to 106 for seven in 20 overs. Only Ajay Biwade (31), Pravin Autkar (17) and Abhay Dubey (14) showed some resistance.
For TOI, Faizul Qumar (3 for 24) was the most successful bowler. Piyush Patil got two for 10. Bhaik was declared man-of-the-match. At Vasant Nagar ground batting first, Tarun Bharat scored 140 for nine in 20 overs. Nitin Baitule top scored with 34. Lakhan Jaiswal contributed 26. For Dainik Bhaskar, Bandu Done got three for 30. Rahul Thakur and Ronael Michel chipped in with two wickets each.
In reply, Dainik Bhaskar missed the target by 14 runs. Gaurav Sahu scored highest 27. Ronael Michael contributed 17. For Tarun Bharat, Mohabbat Singh, Lakhan Jaiswal and Nitin Baitule took two wickets each.

Lokmat off to a flying start


Vicco-SJAN Inter- Press Cricket Tourney begins


Defending champion Lokmat began their campaign on winning note defeating Sakal by four wickets on the first day of 16th Vicco-SJAN Inter-press Twenty-29 Cricket Tournament at Dr Ambedkar College ground on Wednesday. 
In another tie at Vasant Nagar ground, Punyanagari drubbed Tarun Bharat by eight wickets. At Dr Ambedkar College ground Sakal won the toss and elected to bat first. They were restricted to 132 for eight in the stipulated 20 overs. Thanks to Devendra Sadavarti who claimed three wickets conceding just 17 runs. Sachin Rahangdale,  Sachin Khadke and Sharad Mishra got one each. For Sakal, middle order batsman Pankaj Borkar top scored with 42. Sanjeev Sharma (35) and Sunil Thawkar (32) also batted well.
In reply Lokmat chased down the target sparing four wickets in 17.5 overs. Openers Sharad Mishra (19, 26b, 2x4) and Nitin Patariya (46, 27b, 2x6, 5x4) gave flying start to Lokmat stitching up 71 run partnership for first wicket. However after the departure of Mishra with 73 runs on board, Lokmat lost three quick wickets and were reduced to 83 for five at one stage. But then Avishkar Deshmukh (30 not out) held the fort by playing sensibly and ensured the victory. He was well supported by Devendra Sadavarti who remained unbeaten on ten. Mishra was declared man-of-the-match for all-round performance.
At Vasant Nagar ground, batting first Tarun Bharat scored 155 for seven in 20 overs. Nitin Baitute played a brilliant knock of 69 hitting nine boundaries. Lakhan Jaiswal (26) also batted well. Bhushan Mhaisekar remained not out on 15. 
For Punyanagari, Manoj Zariya and Shrikant Bondre were chipped in with two wickets each.
 In reply,  Pankaj Pande (60*, 33b, 8x4) and Ravi Duf (51, 24b, 11x4) knocked off half-centuries as Punyanagari achieved the target losing just two wickets in 15 overs. Sridhar Hatangale remained unbeaten on 25.
