TOI regains SJAN Inter-Press cricket crown



The Times of India drubbed Lokmat by eight wickets to win the 21st Inter Press Cricket Tournament that was organised by SJAN in association with OCW and SBI at Ambedkar College ground on Tuesday.
Batting first Lokmat were all out for 103 . Only Sharad Mishra (27) and Sachin Khadke (25) showed some resistance.
For TOI Faizul Qumar claimed three wickets whereas Sandeep Wardhane, Vinay Pandey and Piyush Patil got two each.
In reply TOI achieved the target losing  just two wickets. Pratik Siddharth top scored with 38. Vinay Pandey remained unbeaten on 35.
OCW CEO Sanjoy Roy, director KMP Singh, SBI DGM Mohan Changde, former Vidarbha cricketer Hemant Wasu, Mangesh Raut of SGR Academy and BSC's CP Karkar distributed the prizes. SJAN president Kishor Bagde made introductoy remarks. Dr Ram Thakur proposed a vote of thanks.

TOI to face Lokmat in final today

Former champions The Times of India (TOI) and Lokmat will clash in the final of the 21st OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket tournament at the Ambedkar College ground, Deekshabhoomi, here on Tuesday.
The annual tourney is being organized by the Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur in association with Orange City Water and State Bank of India.
The final will begin at 9.30 am, while the prize distribution function will be held immediately after the match gets over at 1 pm. Chairman and managing director of OCW Arun Lakhani will be the chief guest for the concluding function. Chief executive officer of OCW Sanjoy Roy, OCW director KMP Singh, AGM of State Bank of India Mohan Changde, former Vidarbha Ranji Trophy captain Hemant Wasu and Mangesh Raut will be the guests of honour on the occasion, informed SJAN president Kishor Bagde in a press release issued here on Monday.

Mishra guides Lokmat into final

Riding on Sharad Mishra's all-round performance Lokmat stunned defending champions The Hitavada by 35 runs  to enter the final in 21st Inter-Press Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association with OCW and SBI at Ambedkar College ground here on Wednesday. 
Batting first after winning the toss, Lokmat piled up 185 for 7 in 20 overs. Thanks to Mishra who played a brilliant knock of 59 hitting five boundaries and two sixes. He was well supported by Nitin Shriwas who knocked off 44 with the help of two sixes and three boundaries.s Opening batsman Nitin Patariya contributed 28. 
In reply, The Hitavada were restricted to 150 for 8. Deval Kakde's late charge (47) went in vain. For Lokmat, Sachin Rahangdale (3 for 16) was the main wicket taker. Batting hero Sharad Mishra got two for 21. NMC sports committee chairman Nagesh Sahare handed over man-of-the-match prize to Mishra. 
The final between Lokmat and the Times of India will be played on Friday at 9.30 a.m. followed by prize distribution function.

Lokmat, Hitavada to clash in eliminator; TOI make it to final


















Lokmat and The Hitavada will clash in the eliminator whereas on the basis of better run quotient The Times of India (TOI) entered the final in 21st Inter-Press Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association with OCW and SBI at Ambedkar College ground on Monday. 
In the first match,  Lokmat defeated Tarun Bharat y 84 runs. Batting first Lokmat made 173 for 8 in 20 overs. Pravin Lokhande slammed 59, Sharad Mishra (24), Nitin Pataria (17) were other scorers. In reply Tarun Bharat were bowled out for 89 in 13.4 overs. 
In an exciting tie, Punyanagari went down fighting to defending champions The Hitavada by just one run. Batting first The Hitavada scored 136 for 9. Nikhil Dixit (36) and Anupam Timothy (27) were the main scorers. In reply, Punyanagari missed the target by just one run. The efforts of  Shridhar Hatgade (37) and Shrikant Kotgule (33) went in vain.
