SJAN felicitates kabaddi players
The game of kabaddi is exciting as well as entertaining. Therefore both the sportspersons and their parents should look at this game from career point of view, said former kabaddi national player and working president of Nagpur District Kabaddi Association Girish Vyas.
He was speaking during the function organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) to mark the occasion of World Sports Journalists’ Day at Tilak Patrakar Bhavan on Thursday.
Shiv Chhatrapati awardee Girish Gadge and former national player Vijaya Anekar also shared the dias. Speaking further Girish Vyas said most of the students as well as parents attract towards glamorous game like cricket and at the same time they ignore our Indian games like kabaddi and kho-kho. This attitude is the main reason behind its degradation.
While appreciating SJAN’s initiative, Girish Gadge said sincere efforts should be made to keep this Indian game alive. While guiding budding kabaddi players Vijaya Ane said along with strength they should adopt technique and strategy to improve their game.
The guests felicitated budding kabaddi players including Dipali Banmote, Priyanka Thakre, Sakshi Shende, Niilambari Bagde, Pooja Admane, Nikita Korte, Vaishnavi Sarore, Chhakuli Kshirsagar, Deepa Ambade, Chhakuli Wankhede, Pinki Bhanse and Nikita Godbe by presenting kit bags and T-shirts.
Veteran kabaddi players Shivajirao Mohite (Maratha Lancers) and Shirpatrao Burde (Subhash Mandal) were also honoured d on the occasion. SJAN president Naresh Shelke conducted the proceedings while secreary Kishor Bagde proposed a vote of thanks.
