Jain, Chavan are champions

Ashish  Jain of Lokmat stunned top seed and defending champion Vijay Sant of Indian Express to clinch the men's singles title in the Gracelands Cup Badminton Tournament for Media Employees organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association with PGTD Physical Education of RTM Nagpur University at Subhedar Hall. 
The second seed Jain rallied from one game down to win the edge of the seat encounter 12-21, 21-15, 21-16. 
In the women's singles, Rakhi Chavan of Maharashtra Times defeated Manjusha Joshi also of Maharashtra Times 30-15 to emerge victorious.
The men's doubles title went to Times of India's Suhas Nayse-Madhav Soman pair who defeated Lokmat's Ashish Jain and Vilas Tijare 21-18, 21-14.
Chairman of Gracelands Shekhar Jadhao was  the chief guest of prize distribution funciton. Chairman of Board of Physical Education of RTM Nagpur University Dr Babanrao Taywade presided over the function.  Director of Gracelands Rajendra Gaikwad and former Ranji and Duleep Trophy player Sameer Khare were the guests of honour. Co-ordinator of PGTD of Physical Education Dr Sanjay Choudhary and others were also present on the occasion. SJAN member Dr Ram Thakur conducted the proceedings while secretary Kishor Bagde proposed a vote of thanks.
Laxmi Nagar-based Shree Sports sponsored the Carlton feather shuttles while NH-1 Restaurant sponsored the food vouchers to the winners and runners-up
RESULTS:
Men's singles (semis): Ashish Jain (Lokmat) bt Suhas Nayse (TOI) 16-21, 21-13, 21-13; Vijay sant (Indian Expres) bt Vilas Tijare (Lokmat) 21-4, 21-6.
Final: (S-2) Ashish Jain bt Vijay Sant (S-1) 12-21, 21-15, 21-16.
Men's doubles (semis): Ashish Jain-Vilas Tijare (Lokmat) bt Vijay Sant -Aniruddha Pande (Indian Express) 21-10, 21-15. Suhas Nayse-Madhav Soman (TOI) got walkover against Sunil Warrier- Manish Sakharwade (TOI).
Final: Suhas Nayse-Madhav Soman bt Ashish Jain-Vilas Tijare 21-18, 21-14.
Women's singles (final): Rakhi Chavan (Maharashtra Times) bt Manjusha Joshi (Maharashtra Times) 30-15.
