Pride of place to Undirwade
Nagpur, April 16: The stage is set for the 7th Carrom Tournament for Media Employees 2014 organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) from Thursday at SJAN office, situated at Vivekanand Hindi Primary School, behind Sai Mandir, Wardha road.
The tournament has evoked good response. Defending champion Rakesh Undirwade of Gaurav Garima has been given top billing in the singles event. Nilesh Doye of Punyanagari has been given second seeding. In doubles, Lokmat duo Pankaj Najpande- Chittaranjan Nagdevte are top seed while Rakesh Undirwade- Vinod Suryavanshi (Gaurav Garima) have been given second ranking.
On Thursday, only singles matches will be played from 9.30 a.m. onwards. The doubles matches will be played on Friday. The tournament will be formally inaugurated at 11 a.m. Noted sports organiser Anil Ahirkar will be the chief guest on the occasion. Director of Reliance Developers Sanjay Dhapodkar will also grace the occasion. Siddharth Narnaware is the chief referee of the tournament and he is assisted by Mukund Nagpurkar. Cash prizes and trophies would be given to the winner, runners-up and semi-finalists in each categories.
MG Wadhwani of Bhavya Builders and Developers, KS Lamba and Sons and Universal Industrial Equipment Limited are extending their support for the success of tournament.
