Dabhekar on SJFI body, Barua, Vinod re-elected

The secretary of Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) Sandeep Dabhekar has been elected as the executive committee member of the Sports Journalists federation of India while Subodh Malla Barua (Assam Sports Journalists' Association) and A. Vinod (Kerala Sports Journalists' Association) were unanimously re-elected as the president and secretary respectively of the SJFI for the 2018-20 term. SJAM's Prashant Keni was retained the treasurer.

has been unanimously elected as executive committee members of Sports Journalists' Federation of India (SJFI) during an annual general body meeting of the federation held at Guwahati in Assam on Saturday.

Lokmat's Ashish Jain claims double crown in SJAN Media Badminton 2018 tournament




Lokmat's Ashish Jain continued his supremacy in the Gaikwad-Patil International School Media Badminton Tournament by claiming double crown at NMC's indoor hall, Vivekanand Nagar on Saturday
The four-day tournament was organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). 
Jain who already pocketed mixed doubles title added another feather to his cap winning men's singles crown. In the final he overcame his arch-rival Suhas Nayse (TOI) 21-15, 21-14 to retain the title. Earlier in the semis, Jain quelled the spirited challenge of Ameya Manke (Navbhharat) 22-20, 24-21 in tough battle. In another semi, Nayse downed young Farhan Quazi (Nagpur Today) 21-12, 21-13. 
Jain missed the triple crown as in the men's double event pairing with Pravin Kathane he lost to Manke-Mahesh Sarangi duo 18-21, 15-21.
Rakhi Chavan of Loksatta retained women singles crown defeating her colleague Monika Chaturvedi  15-1, 15-5 in a one-sided affair. 
MLC Prof. Anil Sole, chairman of Gaikwad-Patil Group Dr Mohan Gaikwad, NMC Sports Committee chairman Nagesh Sahare and NDBA secretary Mangesh Kashikar distributed the prizes. Dr Ram Thakur conducted the proceedings and also proposed a vote of thanks.

Men's singles semis: Ashish Jain (Lokmat) bt Ameya Manke (Navbharat) 22-20, 24-22; Suhas Nayse (TOI) bt Farhan Quazi (Nagpur Today) 21-12, 21-13. 
Final: Ashish Jain bt Suhas Nayse 21-15, 21-14. 
Men's doubles final: Ameya Manke-Mahesh Sarangi (Navbharat) bt Ashish Jain-Pravin Kathane (Lokmat) 21-18, 21-15. 
Women singles final: Rakhi Chavan (Loksatta) bt Monica Chaturvedi (Loksatta) 15-1, 15-5.
