Punyanagari drub ToI by 7 wkts

Deshonnati beat Tarun Bharat

Punyanagri thumped The Times of India by seven wickets in a super six match of the 16th Vicco-SJAN Inter-Press T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) at Ambedkar College ground on Wednesday.
In another super six tie simultaneously played at Vasant Nagar Ground, Deshonnati got the better of Tarun Bharat by 21 runs.
Vicco Laboratories are the main sponsor of the tournament while Motion Tutorials are the co sponsor.
The Times of India after winning the toss and electing to bat first, could manage  to score  126 for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. Apart from a 56-run stand for the fifth wicket, the TOI innings was derailed by regular fall of wickets. Piyush Patil top-scored with 38 and lower order contributions from Faisal Qamar (22) and Devendra Ganjre (21*) took the score past the 120-mark. Pankaj Pandey (3/26) was the pick of the bowlers while Shrikant Bondre and Sanjay Thakre picked up a wicket apiece for Punyanagari. The TOI bowlers did not threaten the chase to any extent as Vaibhav Sonwane’s unbeaten 50 steered Punyanagri home with 22 balls to spare. His 71-run partnership with the all-rounder Pankaj Pande (38) for the second wicket assured a convincing 7-wicket victory for Punyanagari. Sonwane was declared man-of-the-match.

At Vasant Nagar ground, Deshonnati decided to bat first having won the toss. They also scored 126 in their 20 overs, but for the loss of seven wickets. Opener Atul Kharad’s 43-ball struggle ended with him scoring just 30 runs.Chetan Kamanwar (32 off 20) and Mukesh Rahate (29 off 28) tried to accelerate but after their dismissals, there was not much ammunition in the lower order. Now it was up to their bowlers to defend a small target.
In reply, the Tarun Bharat top-order fell apart and were reduced to 22 for four by the sixth over. The rest of the batsmen never really showed too much fight either. Dhananjay Misar and Vivek Baitale grabbed three wickets each as they successfully restricted the chase to 105 in 20 overs. Only Nitin Baitule (21) and Ankush Hirwale (28) could get into double figures and this stat pretty much summed it up for Tarun Bharat who succumbed to a 21-run loss in the end. Kamanwar was declared man-of-the-match.
