A Deadly spell by Navbharat’s Manish Sriwas helped his side thrash Punyanagari by 101 runs and move into the super six of the Orange City Hospital Cup inter-press cricket tournament organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur at Central Railway ground, Ajni.
Batting first, Navbharat scored 154 runs in their quota of 20 overs. Sriwas batted sensibly to score 30 runs off 25 balls with the help of four balls to the fence. Mangesh Pujari was more aggressive in his approach as he slammed a quick fire 35 with the help of three boundaries and one six in 24 balls. Ronnel Michael (24; 4x3) and Mangesh Sarangi (23; 4x4) too contributed to the team’s cause. For Punyanagari, Sarang Chavan, Manish Gadekar and Aatish Patil took two wickets each while Manoj Zaria took one.
In reply, Punyanagari started well but after the loss of Sunil Thawkar (26; 21b, 4x6) they lost the plot and were bundled out for a paltry 53. Man of the match Sriwas took four wickets for 20 runs while Shrikant Tikle took three and Sarangi two.
Babloo Deotale and Girish Pandav were the guests for the match.
