Akshay, Jayashri, Yash, Mrudul, Ansari to be honoured on 27th

Vidarbha spinner Akshay Wakhare, talented volleyball player Jayashri Thakre, promising basketball player Yash Gainkar, chess prodigy Mrudul Dehankar and noted sports organiser Sattar Ansari  will be honoured by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur and Raisoni Group of Institutions during the annual awards function on August 27 at Scientific Hall, Laxmi Nagar.
SJAN’s 17th annual award function will be graced by former India pacer Javagal Srinath at 10 am.
Chairman of Raisoni Group Sunil Raisoni will preside over. 
Besides individual sportspersons, Saraswati Vidyalaya and Nabira Mahavidyalaya, Katol will be awarded for their contributions to the field of sports.

Akshay Wakhare
 A talented off spinner has played 28 first class matches and claimed 94 wickets including eight five-wicket hauls.

“In the last Ranji season, he claimed total 21 wickets in just three matches. He was also picked up by Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL 2015.  He will receive GH Raisoni trophy for best senior sportsman.”
Jayashri Thakre
Spiker Jayashri Thakre, who belongs to small place like Dhapewada, was the member of Indian team that emerged champion in South Asian Volleyball Championship held at Nepal. So far she has represented Maharashtra in nine nationals.  She will receive GH Raisoni Trophy for best senior sportswoman. 
Yash Gainkar
Hoopster Gainkar became city’s first basketball player to be selected in the probable list of Indian U-18 team for Asian School Basketball Championship. He also performed well in the U-19 national championship, dominated the age category state championships. 
He will be honoured with GH Raisoni Trophy for Best Junior Sportsperson.
Mrudul Dehankar
Chess prodigy Mrudul recently clinched bronze medal in Under-12 age group in Blitz form of the chess in  Asian Youth Chess Championship held at Suwon, South Korea. Earlier, in the Commonwealth Chess Championship at New Delhi, Mrudul remained unbeaten to win the gold medal.  In the National Under-11 Chess Championship she won silver at Pondicherry. She will receive Baidyanath Trophy for best junior female player. 
Sattar Ansari
Sattar Ansari will be honoured with Meeradevi Dasture Trophy for promoting football in Kamptee. 
Through Rabbani Club, this veteran sports organiser has produced  several national and international level football players. Saraswati Vidyalaya  will receive Centre Point School trophy for the promotion of sports. Similarly, Katol’s Nabira Mahavidyalaya will get KC Bajaj Memorial Trophy for their services to the sports.
