The Hitavada begin with emphatic win

DEFENDING champions The Hitavada started their campaign in the 12th Orange City Hospital Cup Inter-Press Invitational Twenty20 Cricket Tournament with an emphatic 40-run win over Punyanagari. The inaugural encounter of the meet was played at Central Railways’ new ground in Ajni. The tournament is organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN).
Batting first after calling correctly The Hitavada posted 165 for 4 in 20 overs. They were given a solid platform by openers Rahul Dixit (28; 16b, 3x4, 1x6) and Anupam Timothy (26; 35b, 3x4, 1x6) who put on a quick 52 in just six overs. Dixit was the aggressive of the two going after the bowling on a tricky pitch.
Man of the match Praveen Lokhande (49; 31b, 5x4, 2x6) then took over to stitch a 41-run partnership with Timothy. Lokhande hammered two towering sixes and five cracking boundaries but was unlucky to miss his half-century. Before getting out he shared an important 45-run stand with captain Susheem Kolay (29*; 27b, 5x4).
