Lokmat scrape past Bhaskar

RONEL MICHAEL'S HALF CENTURY WENT IN VAIN

Former champions Lokmat overcame Dainik Bhaskar scare in their opening match of the 12th Orange City Hospital Cup Inter-Press Invitational Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Dr Ambedkar College ground, Deekshabhoomi on Wednesday.
Set to score 125 for a win, Lokmat were off to a flying start and scored 44 runs in just 3.1 overs. From 44 for no loss to 5-57 in another 3.1 overs, things were looking bleak for Lokmat. But a certain Nitin Pateria (54; 29b, 8x4, 2x6), lower-order batsmen Vivek Vyawhare (23*; 23b, 3x4) and Sachin Rahangdale (10*; 14b) held their nerves to see the team through with a four-wicket win. Amit Khodke contributed 19 at the top of the order. His ten-ball knock contained two hits to the fence and one over it. Raju Madke’s four-wicket burst in the middle went in vain.
Earlier, Bhaskar electing to bat, were restricted to 124-4. From a precarious 14-3, Ronel Michael (56*, 48b, 7x4) and Sanjeev Sharma (39, 41b, 4x4) consolidated Bhaskar innings with a fourth wicket stand of 93 runs. Pawan Dhande, Atish Wankede and Nitin Pateria took one wicket each.
In the other match of the day, Times of India stunned Tarun Bharat by a big margin of 57 runs.
Invited to bat, Times scored 153-8 in 20 overs. Suhas Nayse (47; 50b, 3x4) was the top scorer. Yogesh Banait (37) and Subodh Ratnaparkhi (21) played their part. Pankaj Pandey (2-32) was the pick of the Tarun Bharat bowlers. Sandeep Dhabekar (4-33), Nayse (3-9) and Nagesh Meshram (2-30) bowled well to dismiss Tarun Bharat for 96. Ravi Daf staged a lone battle hitting 34 before being brilliantly caught by Niladri Dey in the deep.
