AFTER mercilessly whacking the same opponent just four days ago, Lokmat’s opening pair of Amit Khodke and Nitin Patariya fired once again as they stormed their side to an emphatic 126-run win against Tarun Bharat in the first super six match of the 12th Orange City Hospital Cup Inter-Press Invitational Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Dr Ambedkar College ground.
Opting to bat in the match, which got delayed by two hours due to damp outfield, Lokmat were once again given superb start courtesy in-form Khodke-Patariya duo. Patariya, who hammered a breath taking 142 against the same opponent in their last game, carried on from where he left smashing the Tarun Bharat bowlers in every corner of the ground. He cracked a brilliant 31-ball 65 runs.
Khodke, too, was at his best playing some delightful strokes. Vikas Barokar separated the Lokmat duo sending Patariya back in the 12th over but the damage was already done with a 135-run opening stand. Khodke (95; 60b, 4x10) continued his onslaught, though felling five runs shot of a well deserved ton.
Lokmat heaped 213 runs for five wickets.Tarun Bharat looked never in the game with wickets at regular intervals hindering their flow of runs.
Sachin Rahangdale picked up four wickets as Tarun Bharat were bowled out for 85 runs in 16.1 overs.
