Inter-press cricket tourney from today

Lokmat will take on Deshonnati in opener


Stage is set for Orange City Hospital Cup 14th Inter-Press Invitational Twenty20 Cricket Tournament being organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur.
The meet is sponsored by Orange City Hospital and Research Institute.
The tournament will be inaugurated on Monday at Vasant Nagar ground at 8.15 am.
Chairman of Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited Uday Bhaskar Nair will be the chief guest on the occasion. Director is OCHRI Dr Anup Marar, CEO of Satvik Group Amol Dhake, Director of Purti Group Sudhir Diwe and President of Vidarbha Cricket Association Prakash Dixit will also grace the occasion.
Satvik Group and Purti Group are the co-sponsors of the tournament. Shree Sports has sponsored the white balls of Valuez company while man of-the-match trophies are being sponsored by Gangadharrao Chinchole Smruti Seva Sanstha. Anil Kumar Tea Company has sponsored individual prizes.
Total ten teams are participating in the tournament. Group ‘A’ comprises defending champion Lokmat, former champions The Hitavada, Tarun Bharat, Dainik Bhaskar and Deshonnati.
Group ‘B’ includes last year’s runners-up Punyanagari, Lokshahi Varta, Sakal, Indian Express-Loksata and The Times of India.
Lokmat will take on Deshonnati in the inaugural tie at Vasant Nagar on Monday. Top two teams from each group will qualify for the semis which will be played on January 21 and 22. The final will be played at Ambedkar College ground on January 24.
For the first time with the cooperation of Yash Group the scores and visuals of final match will be telecast on LED screen at the venue. SJAN members are working hard for the success of the tournament.
