Riding on Manish Kanchankar’s hat-trick Deshonnati defeated Dainik Bhaskar by 33 runs in the SJAN-Orange City Hospital Cup Inter-Press T20 cricket tournament. This was the first hat-trick of 14th edition of the tournament, organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur at Ambedkar College ground.
Deshonnati batted first and managed a good total of 139 for 9 in 20 overs. Chetan Kamanwar top scored with (39; 3x4). He was supported by Shridhar Hatagade (23; 1x4, 1x6).
For Dainik Bhaskar, Sujan Masid (3 for 29) was the most successful bowler.
Dainik Bhaskar were on course keeping up the run rate but Kanchankar’s hat-trick in the 14th over bundled them out for 106 in 15 overs. Man of the Match Chetan Kamanwar got two for 17.
Sujan Masid (20) and Pravin Rahulwar (19) were the main scorers for Bhaskar.
Brief scores: Deshonnati 139 for 9 in 20 overs (Chetan Kamanwar (39), Shridhar Hatagade (23), Sandeep Dhamde 15, Sujan Masid 3 for 29, Prabhu Shankar 2 for 25) beat Dainik Bhaskar 106 in 15 overs (Sujan Masid 20, Pravin Rahulwar 19, Manish Kanchankar 3 for 36, Chetan Kamanwar 2 for 17).
Wednesday’s fixtures: The Hitavada vs Deshonnati at Ambedkar College. Indian Express-Loksatta vs The Times of India at Vasant Nagar. Both matches will start at 9 am.
