PUNYANAGARI and Lokmat carved out easy victories in their last league games of the ongoing 17th Allahabad Bank SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament, organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN), on Wednesday.
Punyanagari defeated Sakal by five wickets in what was a must-win game for the latter.
Sakal were shot out for 83 in 18.4 overs with Mr Extras contributing the highest 22. Kishor Jamkar made 15 (3x4).
For Punyanagari, Pankaj Pande, Sanjay Thakre and Ravi Daf picked two wickets each.
Punyanagari achieved the target in 13.4 overs losing five wickets in the process. Man of the match Manoj Jhariya made 23 while Pande scored 20.
Rajesh Vyavhare picked two wickets for Sakal.
In another match, Lokmat made lightwork of Loksatta with a 10-wicket win.
Loksatta were all out for 72 with Sudarshan Sakharkar making 16.
Sharad Mishra and Devendra Sadavarti scalped three wickets each for Lokmat.
In the reply, Lokmat raced to the target in just 5.2 overs. Nitin Patariya made an unbeaten 40 (4x4, 3x6) and Mishra remained not out on 29 (6x4).
On Thursday: Deshonnati vs Loksatta at 9.30 am; The Hitavada vs Tarun Bharat 1.30 pm. Both matches at Vasant Nagar ground.
