OCW-SJAN Inter-Press cricket meet begins

Suhas shines in opener




Nagpur, Jan. 16: Riding on Suhas Nayse's all-round performance ( 28 runs and four wickets), defending champion The Times of India defeated Lokshahi Varta by 27 runs on the first day of OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Invitational Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament at Vasant Nagar ground on Saturday. 
The tournament has been organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur in association with OCW and Vithoba Industries. 
Batting first TOI scored 158 for 7 in 20 overs. Opener Subodh Ratnaparkhi top scored with 52. Dashing Rupesh Bhaik knocked off unbeaten 48. Suhas Nayse played a good knock of 28. For Lokshahi Varta Sarang Chavan (3 for 29) was the main wicket taker. 
In reply, Lokshahi Varta were all out for 131 in 18.3 overs. Chavan's fighting 47 run knock went in vain. 
For TOI, Nayse (2-0-12-4) was the most successful bowler. Sandeep Wardhane and Suraj Nair were chipped in with two wickets each. Nayse was declared man-of-the-match. 
Earlier promoter of OCW Arun Lakhani inaugurated the tournament. OCW director KNP Singh,  Kartik Shende of Vithoba Industries, principal of Dhanwate National College Dr Babanrao Taywade and PRO of OCW Sachin Dravekar were also present on the occasion. 
SJAN president Dr Ram Thakur made introductory remarks. Secretary Kishor Bagde conducted the proceedings and also proposed a vote of thanks.

Lokmat vs The Hitavada at 9.30 a.m. at Vasant Nagar ground.

TOI: 158 for 7 in 20 overs (Subodh Ratnaparkhi 52, Rupesh Bhaik 48*, Suhas Nayse 28, Sarang Chavan 3 for 29). 
Lokshahi Varta:131 all out in 18.3 overs (Sarang Chavan 47, Sandip Ganar 23, Suhas Nayse 4 for 12).
