In a nail biting encounter Punyanagari stunned defending champions The Times of India by just two runs in 18th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Invitational Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur at Dr Ambedkar College ground on Monday.
At Vasant Nagar Sakal drubbed Tarun Bharat by six wickets. Batting first Punyanagari piled up 196 for three in 20 overs. Pankaj Pande played an unbeaten knock of 69. Ravi Daf (47) and Vaibhav Sonawane (45) too batted well. For TOI, Vijay Pandian claimed two wickets for 28 runs.
In reply TOI missed the target by just two runs. They were restricted to 194. Rupesh Bhaik (59), Mandar Moroney (48) and Subodh Ratnaparkhi (43) tried their best but in vain. Pankaj Pandey was declared man-of-the-match.
At Vasant Nagar Tarun Bharat scored 122 for nine. Lakhan Jaiswal top scored with 42. Bhushan Mhaisekar (33) was another main scorer. For Sakal, Sachin Belwalkar (2 for 12) was the most successful bowler.
In reply, Sakal chased down the target easily sparing six wickets. Borkar remained unbeaten on 37. Devendra Deshpande (26) and Rajesh Vyavhare (24) too batted well. Borkar was declared man-of-the-match.
