Tarun Bharat take Punyanagari by surprise

Kakde's 'sixer' smashes Deshonnati


Tarun Bharat stunned last year's semi-finalist Punyanagari by one wicket whereas The Hitavada thrashed Deshonnati by huge margin of 124 runs in OCW-SJAN 18th Inter-Press Invitational Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) on Wednesday
At Vasant Nagar ground, in a low scoring tie batting first Punyanagari were bundled out for a paltry 96 in 14.2 overs. Thanks to Lakhan Jaiswal who ripped through the batting lineup and claimed five wicket haul.  Only Pankaj Pande (32) and Vaibhav Sonawane (20) showed some resistance. 
In reply, Tarun Bharat achieved the target in 18.3 overs sparing just one wicket. Jaiswal excelled with bat also and scored 33. Ankush Hiwrale remained unbeten on 13 to ensure the victory. 
In a one-sided game at Ambedkar College, batting first The Hitavada piled up 174.  Rahul Dixit missed the half century by six runs. Valuable contribution also came from Vinay Pandey (30), Nikhil Dixit (28) and Suesheem Koley (21). In reply Deval Kakde claimed six wickets as Deshonnati were all out for just 50 runs. 
Today's matches: Punyanagari vs Sakal at Ambedkar College 10.15 a.m.; Dainik Bhaskar vs Lostatta-IE at Vasant Nagar at 9.30 am.

Punyanagari: 96 all out in 14.2 overs (Pankaj Pande 32, Vaibhav Sonawane 20, Lakhan Jaiswal 4 for 19, Umesh Sardar and  Roshan Tamboli two wickets each). 
Tarun Bharat: 97 for 9 in 18.3 overs (Lakhan Jaiswal 33, Ankush Hiwrale 13* Dinesh Borkar 11, Ravi Daf, Vaibhav Sonwane and Sanjay Thakre two wickets each).
Result: Tarun Bharat won by two wickets
At Ambedkar College ground
 The Hitavada: 174 for 7 in 20 ovres (Rahul Dixit 44, Vinay Pandey 30, Nikhil Dixit 28, Suesheem Koley 21, Sandeep Dhamde and Vivek Bithale two wickets each). 
Deshonnati: 50 all out in 11 overs (Sandeep Dhamde 14, Deval Kakde 6 for 23, Anupam Timothy 2 for 0). 
Result: The Hitavada won by 124 runs.
