Ganar, Kelapure lead Lokshahi Varta to semis

Sandeep Ganar and Nikhil Kelapure slammed strokeful half-centuries to steer Lokshahi Varta to a thumping 108-run victory against Loksatta in the last league match of the 20th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket tournament at the Ambedkar College ground here on Tuesday.

Opting to bat, Lokshahi Varta took advantage of sloppy Loksatta fielding and piled up 202 for 4 in 20 overs. Opening batsman Ganar hammered 78 which included 16 fours. He was involved in big partnership of over 150 runs with fellow opener Kelapure (68, 9x4).
Chasing a daunting target, Loksatta were all out for 92 in 18 overs. Harshvardhan Datir waged a lone battle with 36 runs.

In another match played at the Vasant Nagar ground, Deshonnati upset Dainik Bhaskar by four wickets. Vivek Bithale was named man-of-the-match for his all-round performance (2-21 an 19 not out).

On Wednesday, both the semifinals will be played. Defending champions Lokmat will face Lokshahi Varta at Vasant Nagar ground at 9 am, while The Times of India will clash with Hitavada at the Ambedkar College ground at 11 am.

Earlier, ‘CricMedia’ souveneir was released at the Ambedkar College ground on Tuesday. Nagpur District Volleyball Association (NDVA) president Vijay Dangre, NDVA secretary Sunil Hande, Sanjay Chinchole, AP Joshi, Nagesh Sahare and Bollywood actor Mamik Singh released the annual magazine.

Dainik Bhaskar 132 in 19.3 overs (Shrikant Bhalerao 46, Rajiv Kaushik 27; Sandeep Dhamde 2-23, Vivek Bithale 2-21) lost to Deshonnati 136-6 in 18.4 overs (Ankit Bhujade 33, Atul Kaurati 22, Vivek Bithale 19 not out; Abhinav Fating 3-21, Bandu Dhore 2-22) by 4 wickets.

Lokshahi Varta 202-4 in 20 overs (Sandeep Ganar 78, Nikhil Kelapure 68; Avishkar Deshmukh 1-21, Roshan Bhuse 1-34) bt Loksatta 92 in 18 overs (Harshvardhan Datir 36; Anup Motghare 4-1, Abhay Dube 3-18, Sandeep Ganar 1-17) by 108 runs.
