Lokmat make it to final

Captain Amit Khodke played a responsible knock of 44 (44 b, 5x4) as defending champions Lokmat pipped Sakal by just two wickets to enter the final of the Ankur Seeds-SJAN 24th Inter-Press Invitational Cricket Tournament at Vasant Nagar ground, on Thursday.
Batting first, Sakal scored 145 all out in 19.1 overs.
Middle-order batter Nilesh Doye top scored with 53 (36 b, 8x4). Prajwal Harne 33 (35b, 4x45) and Pratik Vairagad 21* (17b, 2x4) were other scorers.
For Lokmat, Devendra Sadavarti (3 for 18) and Nitin Pataria (3 for 26) shared six wickets between them whereas Nitin Shriwas got two for 26. In reply, after initial hiccpus, Lokmat achieved the target sparing two wickets and five balls.
Thanks to Khodke who played a match-winning knock and ensured the victory. He was well supported by Sarang Walwatkar 24 (21 b, 1x4, 2x6), Nitin Shriwas 17 (14b, 2x4), Nitin Pataria 14 (14 b, 1x6) and James Rajan (13































(11 b, 2x4).
For Sakal, Prajwal Harne and Sachin Belvalkar claimed two wickets each.
Regional marketing manager of Ankur Seeds Pafulla Hiwase gave the man of the match award to Amit Khodke.

On Friday, the second semi-final will be played between Punyanagari and The Times of India at 8.30 a.m.

Satish slams unbeaten ton in Bhaskar victory



Riding on Satish Umrethe's unbeaten century (100) and Sujan Masid's 45 runs, Dainik Bhaskar defeated Loksatta by 55 runs in their last league match in Ankur Seeds-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament at Vasant Nagar ground, here on Wednesday.
Batting first, Dainik Bhaskar scored 206 for three in 20 overs. Thanks to Umrethe who scored 100 in 55 balls hitting 17 boundaries and one six. From the other end, Sujan Masid ably supported him and scored 45 in 29 balls hitting ten boundaries. Samir Khanna (25) too batted well.
In reply, Loksatta was able to score 151 losing six wickets. Dhananjay Khedkar (28) and Anil Kamble (25 not out) were main scorers. For Dainik Bhaskar, Sharad Bagde, Sujan Masid and Sachin Mokharkar chipped in with two wickets each. Dr Suresh Chandak distributed the man-of-the-match trophy to Umrethe.

On Thursday Lokmat will play Sakal in the first semi-final from 8.30 am onwards.
