SJAN inter-press cricket tourney begins
Nitin Patariya claimed six wickets and then slammed 39 runs as defending champions Lokmat drubbed Dainik Bhaskar by ten wickets in Ankur Seeds-SJAN 24th Inter-Press Invitational T20 Cricket Tournament on Tuesday.
Batting first, Dainik Bhaskar were bundled out for a paltry 73 in 16.3 overs. Thanks to Patariya who ripped thru the batting line up and captured six wickets conceding 18 runs. He was well supported by Sharad Mishra (2 for 19). For Dainik Bhaskar, only Sudhir Mehare 31 (46b, 5x4) and Sachin Mokharkar 16 (14 b, 6x2) showed some resistance.
In reply, Lokmat's opening pair of Patariya 39 (14b, 5x4, 36) and Sharad Mishra 18 (12b, 2x4, 1x6) completed the formalities. They achieved the target in just 4.2 overs without any damage.
Earlier, regional marketing manager of Ankur Seeds Manoj Singh inaugurated the tournament in the presence of head of the department of sports of Dhanwate National College Dr Devendra Wankhade, Lakhan Jaiswal, senior cricket coach Sunil Mujumdar and BSC vice-president Sharad Padhye. SJAN president Dr Ram Thakur and secretary Paritosh Pramanik also shared the dais. SJAN treasurer Nilesh Deshpande and member Anupam Soni welcomed the guests. Former president Naresh Shelke conducted the proceedings. NMC sports officer and Shiv Chhatrapati awardee Piyush Ambulkar gave man-of-the-match trophy to Patariya.
