Inter-press T20 cricket begins from Tuesday



The 13th Inter-Press Invitational Twenty20 Cricket Tournament sponsored by Orange City Hospital and Research Institute (OCHRI) will get underway on Tuesday at Dr Ambedkar College ground, Deekshabhoomi.
Chairman, Nairsons, Udaybhaskar Nair will inaugurate the tournament at 8.30 a.m. CEO of Satvik Group Amol Dhake, secretary of Dr Ambedkar Smarak Samiti Sadanand Fulzele and director of OCHRI Anup Marar will be the special guests on the occasion.
The tournament is being organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN).
Defending and nine-time champions The Hitavada will clash with former champions Indian Express-Loksatta at Dr Ambedkar College ground immediately after the inauguration. At Vasant Nagar ground, Tarun Bharat will take on Punya Nagari. This year the SJAN has also joined the hands with Satvik Group.Total eight teams are participating in the tournament and are divided in two pools. Pool ‘A’ includes The Hitavada, Loksatta, Tarun Bharat and Punyanagari while pool ‘B’ consists of Lokmat, Sakal, Dainik Bhaskar and Lokshahi Varta. Top three teams from each team will qualify for super six stage. The final will be played on January 19.
The T20 event will be played with black sight-screen, coloured clothing and white Wisden County balls.
