Lokmat in semis

Amit Khodke (70) and Sachin Khadke (52*) slammed half centuries and added 116 runs for the third wicket as former champions Lokmat thrashed Tarun Bharat by 75 runs to storm into the semi-finals of the 13th Orange City Hospital Cup invitational inter-press T20 cricket tournament at Dr Ambedkar College ground.
The tournament is being organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur.
With this defeat, Tarun Bharat became the first team to make an exit from Super Six.
Batting first, Lokmat posted 192 runs losing three wickets from allotted 20 oevrs.
It was skipper Amit Khodke and Sachin Khadke who added 116 runs for the third wicket in just 86 balls to put Lokmat on top.
Khodke’s slammed eight boundaries in his 52-ball 70-run knock. Khadke also batted well and scored an unbeaten 52. His knock was studded with five balls to the fence.
Openers Sharad Mishra 24 (9b, 6x4) and Nitin Patariya 23 (10 b, 2x4, 1x6) set the tone of match by scoring some quick runs. For Tarun Bharat, Vijay Choure, Nitin Baitule and Vikas Barokar took one wicket each.
In reply, Tarun Bharat manage to score 117 runs in 14.5 overs. Thanks to some disciplined bowling of from Vyavhare and Ashish Budholiya who snared three wickets each. man of the match Khodke got one. For Tarun Bharat, Abhishek Kulkarni and Vikas Baroakr scored 24 runs each.
Earlier, the players were introduced to secretary of Sindhu Education Society Deepak Bajaj and MD of Graceland Realties Shekhar Jadhao.
On Thursday: Sakal vs Lokshahi Varta at Dr Ambedkar College ground at 9 am.
