Ravi Duff's hat-trick and left-handed Pankaj Pande's unbeaten 47-run knock were the main highlights of Punyanagari's three-wicket victory over Deshonnati in 16th Vicco-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) at Vasant Nagar ground on Saturday.
With this victory Punyanagari also confirmed their place in the semi-final. Batting first Deshonnati scored 104 in 16.2 overs. Middle order batsman Sachin Kanchanwar top scored with 25. Openers Atul Kharad (18) and Vivek Baitale (16) also batted well. For Punyanagari, Ravi Daf claimed four wickets including a spectacular hat-trick. Sanjay Thakre got two for 18.
In reply, after initial hiccups Punyanagari chased down the target sparing three wickets. After losing two wickets for 29, left-handed Pankaj Pande held the fort till the end and ensured the victory scoring unbeaten 47 in 31 balls. His knock consisted one six and six boundaries. He was ably supported by Shrikant Kotgule (11) and Shridhar Hatagale (10). For Deshonnati, Chetan Kamanwar, Mukesh Rahate and Rajesh Mishra claimed two wickets each. Pande was declared man-of-the-match.
