The Times of India drubbed Tarun Bharat by ten wickets to keep their hopes alive of a semis spot in Vicco-SJAN Inter-Press Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) at Vasant Nagar ground on Sunday.
Vicco Laboratories are the main sponsor of the event while Motion Tutorials are the co-sponsor.
Tarun Bharat won the toss and elected to bat first. However, their decision backfired as they were bundled out for a poor total of 79 in 19.4 overs thanks to Umesh Tekade who finished with a five-wicket haul conceding 12 runs. For Tarun Bharat, Roshan Tamboli top scored with 24. Bhushan Mhaisekar (16) and Lakhan Jaiswal (14) were other scorers.
In reply, TOI achieved the small target in just six overs without losing any wicket. Opening batsman Rupesh Bhaik punished the bowlers and hammered unbeaten 60 in 21 balls with the help of one six and 12 boundaries. Subodh Ratnaparkhi remained unbeaten on 20. Tekade was declared man-of-the-match.
Monday’s fixtures: Lokmat Vs Deshonnati at Ambedkar College; TOI Vs Sakal at Vasant Nagar ground at 9.30 a.m.
