Punyanagari drub Sakal
In-form Sharad Mishra displayed all-round performance as defending champion Lokmat drubbed Tarun Bharat by 106 runs in Vicco-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists'Association of Nagpur (SJAN) at Ambedkar College ground on Friday.
Vicco Laboratories are the main sponsor of the tournament while Motion Tutorials are the co-sponsor. At Vasant Nagar Punyanagari thrashed Sakal by eight wickets.
With consecutive three victories at Super Six stage, Lokmat confirmed their place in semis. Electing to bat after winning the toss Lokmat piled up 174 for seven in 20 overs. Openers Sharad Mishra (53, 41b, 4x4) and skipper Amit Khodke (40, 26b, 6x4) once again gave flying start and made 64 run partnership for first wicket. Avishkar Deshmukh (28) and Nitin Pataria (16) also batted well. For Tarun Bharat, Sandeep Gagde, Mohabbat Bawa and Ankush Hiwarale claimed two wickets each.
While chasing a huge target, Tarun Bharat succumbed to the pressure and were bundled out for a paltry 68 in 18.2 overs. Only Ankush Hiwrale (21) showed some resistance. For Lokmat, batting hero Sharad Mishra aong with Sachin Khadke and Amit Khodke snared two wickets each. Mishra was declared man-of-the-match.
At Vasant Nagar batting first Sakal scored 138 for eight. Sunil Thawkar top scored with 60. Kishor Jamkar contributed 16. For Punyanagari, Manoj Zariya and Vaibhav Sonwane captured two wickets each. In reply, opening duo Vaibhav Sonwane (65*, 1x6, 9x4) and Ravi Daf (34, 28b, 4x4) smashed 80 for first wicket partnership as Punyanagari achieved the target sparing eight wickets in 13.4 overs. Sonawane was declared man-of-the-match for his all-round performance.
