After the Super Six matches, the four semi-finalists have been identified in 16th Vicco-SJAN Inter-Press Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN).
Defending champion Lokmat topped the points tally with 16 points. Sakal and Punyanagari earned 12 points each but on the basis of run quotient Sakal (21.64) finished second followed by Punyanagari (20.73). The Times of India and Deshonnati were tied at four points each but on run quotient, ToI (12.61) were pushed by Deshonnati (10.78) at fourth spot.
In the first semis to be played on February 12 Lokmat will take on Punyanagari while Sakal will clash with The Times of India on February 13. Both the matches will be played at Ambedkar College ground.
In their last Super Six tie, Lokmat recorded huge nine-wicket victory over Deshonnati. Batting first, Deshonnati were bundled out for 69 in 16.2 overs. Kanchanwar remained unbeaten on 15. For Lokmat, skipper Amit Khodke (3 for 23) was the most successful bowler. Sachin Rahangdale (2 for 20) also bowled well.
In reply, Lokmat achieved the target in 6.5 overs. After the departure of Sharad Mishra (10), Nitin Patariya slammed unbeaten 51 in just 23 balls hitting four sixes and five boundaries. Amit Khodke remained unbeaten on five. Patariya was declared man-of-the-match.
At Vasant Nagar, Sakal thrashed ToI by 53 runs. Batting first Sakal made 117 for two in 20 overs. Pankaj Borkar played an unbeaten knock of 60. Om Dhakulkar remained not out on 17.
In reply, ToI batsmen made harakiri and were bowled out for a paltry 66 in 13.3 overs. Only Faizul Qumar (24) and Sandeep Dabhekar (16*) showed some resistance. For Sakal Anil Kamble claimed four wickets for 11. Borkar was declared man-of-the match.
