Lokmat overcome TOI

 
Khadke shines with five-wicket haul

Sachin Khadke's five-wicket haul enabled Lokmat to overcome The Times of India (TOI) by five wickets in ongoing 16th Vicco-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) at Ambedkar College ground on Thursday.
At Vasant Nagar ground, Sakal drubbed Deshonnati by 70 runs. Vicco Laboratories are the main sponsor of the tournament while Motion Tutorials are the co-sponsor. At Ambedkar College, TOI won the toss and elected to bat first. Their decision backfired as they were bundled out for a paltry 78 in 17 overs. At one stage, TOI were tottering on 35 for 8 but then Suraj Nair (16),  Sandeep Wardhane (11) and Amit Sampat (9) showed some resistance and helped TOI to cross 50-run mark. Sachin Khadke who troubled TOI batsmen with pace and swing and finished with an impressive figure of 4-1-15-5. Sachin Rahangdale got two for 12. Avishkar Deshmukh, Sharad Mishra and Devendra Sadavarti were chipped in with one wicket each.
In reply, Lokmat achieved the target sparing four wickets in 14.2 overs. Skipper Amit Khodke top scored with 21. Amit Roshankhede remained not out on 19. He smashed one six and one boundary. Avishkar Deshmukh contributed 6. For TOI, Piyush Patil and Faizul Qumar got two wickets each.
At Vasant Nagar, batting first Sakal knocked off 170 for five in 20 overs. Thanks to openers Sunil Thawkar (62) and Kishor Jamkar (47) who gave flying start and made 92 run partnership for first wicket. Sachin Belwalkar remained not out on 19. For Deshonnati, Vivak Baitale got three wickets for 20.
In reply, Deshonnati lost their wickets at regular interval and were bowled out for 100 in 15.2 overs. For Deshonnati opener Vivek Baitale scored highest 23 and Atul Kharad (13) was another batsman who crossed the double digit. For Sakal, man-of-the-match spinner Anil Kamble claimed five-wicket haul conceding 13 runs.
