Lokmat to take on Hitavada in final

























Nagpur: Defending champions The Times of India (TOI) went down fighting against The Hitavada by five wickets in the 18th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket tournament at the Ambedkar College ground here on Friday.

Opting to bat in the second qualifier, TOI got a solid start with 85 for 2 in 11 overs. However, they could not capitalized on it and were restricted to 137 for 8 in 20 overs. Opener Suhas Nayse top-scored with 37 (36b, 4x4). Mandar Moroney (29; 25b, 1x4, 1x6) and Piyush Patil (23; 21b, 1x4) were other major scorers.

Hitavada struggled initially but chased the target with five wickets and 7 balls to spare. Man-of-the-match Anupam Timothy used two lives to score 35 runs. Vinay Pandey remained unbeaten on 24.

TOI 137-8 in 20 overs (Suhas Nayse 37, Mandar Moroney 29, Piyush Patil 23; Anupam Timothy 4-23) lost to Hitavada 138-5 in 18.5 overs (Anupam Timothy 35, Vinay Pandey 24*, Rahul Dixit 29, Nikhil Dixit 23; Faizul Qumar 2-38) by 5 wickets.
