Lokhande slams ton, Lokmat in SF; Hitavada top group 'A'

order batsman Pravin Lokhande slammed fabulous unbeaten century (100*,
63b, 14x4, 1x6) and Sharad Mishra claimed six wickets as Lokmat
drubbed Dainik Bhaskar by 64 runs to confirm their place in the
semi-final in ongoing 19th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament at
Ambedkar College ground on Thursday.
The tournament has been
organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in
association with OCW and State Bank of India.
Dainik Bhaskar
won the toss and decided to field first. They scored 190 for 5 in 20
overs. Initially it appeared that Bhaskar's decision to field first
proved correct as Lokmat lost four wickets for 70 runs in 11 overs. But
then Lokhande played one of the best knocks of his life and helped
Lokmat to score mammoth total. Playing cautiously initially, he
punished the rival bowlers once settled. He got good support from Nitin
Shriwas who smashed unbeaten 21 in just nine balls.
In reply,
Dainik Bhaskar were restricted to 126 for nine in 20 overs. Thanks to
Sharad Mishra who ripped through the batting line up and finished with
an impressive figures of 4-1-16-6. Pramod Ingole claimed two fir 16. For
Bhaskar only, Shrikant Bhalerao (40) and Avinash Bhagat (26) showed
resistance.
At Vasant Nagar, The Hitavada thrashed
IE-Loksatta by ten wickets to top group A. Batting first IE-Loksatta
scored 98 for 8 in 20 overs. In reply, man-of-the-match Kamlesh Waghire
(53*) and Anupam Timothy (40*) propelled The Hitavada into massive
victory.
At Ambedkar College ground
Lokmat:
190 for 5 in 20 overs (Pravin Lokhande 100 *, Nitin Shriwas 21*, Amit
Khodke 14, Sarang Walwatkar 13, Shrikant Bhalerao 2 for 14, Bandu Dhore,
Rahul Thakur and Abhinav Fating one each)
Dainik Bhaskar: 126 for 9 in 20 overs (Shrikant Bhalerao 40, Avinash Bhagat 26, Sharad Mishra 6 for 16, Pramod Ingole 2 for 16).
Result: Lokmat won by 64 runs.
