Lokmat emerge champion

Beat TOI by 33 runs, Lokhande declared best player

Playing like true champions Lokmat drubbed The Times of India (TOI) by 33 runs to win 19th OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament at Dr Ambedkar College ground, Deekshahboomi.
The tournament was organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association with OCW and SBI.
After  success eluding them for two consecutive  years, Lokmat ultimately regained the coveted trophy dominating all departments of the game. After winning crucial toss  Lokmat, after early hiccups,  scored a challenging total of 143 for 5 in 20 overs thanks to middle order batsman Sharad Mishra (44, 36b, 1x6, 3x4) and skipper Amit Khodke  (38, 33 b, 4x4) who made match winning 77 run partnership for fourth wicket under pressure situation. Then Nitin Shriwas scored quickfire 13 ball-29 hitting three boundaries and one six. Earlier Lokmat had a shaky start as they lost three wickets for just 30 runs in 6.4 overs. Dashing Nitin Patariya (11) and Pravin Lokhande (6) who was later declared best player of the tournament ran out while stealing the runs. But then Mishra and Khodke, leading from the front played sensibly. Rotating the strike and punishing the bad deliveries they slowly build up healthy partnership that helped Lokmat to score good total.

In reply,  TOI lost their wickets at regular interval and were all out for 110 in 20 overs. Opener Pratik Siddharth (47) tried his best but didn't get much support from other end. For Lokmat Pravin Lokhande, Nitin Shriwas and Nitin Patariya claimed two wickets each.

Chinchole of Drushti Communication distributed the prizes. SJAN president Kishor Bagde made introductory remarks. Member Dr Ram Thakur conducted the proceedings and treasurer Suhas Nayse proposed a vote of thanks.
