Hitavada off to a flying start
Defending champion The Hitavada began their campaign on winning
note defeating Punyanagari by 50 runs in OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Twenty-20
Invitational Cricket Tournament at Dr Ambedkar College ground,
Deekshabhoomi on Monday.
The
tournament is organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur
(SJAN) in association with OCW and State Bank of India.
Batting
first The Hitavada piled up 222 for four in 20 overs. Anupam Timothy
(62) and Kamlesh Waghire (43) gave them flying start and then Pankaj
Borkar played an unbeaten knock of 54. Nikhil Dixit contributed 29. In
reply, despite left-handed Pankaj Pande's fighting 96 run knock,
Punyanagari were all out for 172 in 20 overs. Borkar and Kshitij Udar
claimed three wickets each.

Earlier
CEO of OCW Sanjay Roy, director KMP Singh, assistant general manager of
SBI Mohan Changde, liaison officer and former Ranji captain Hemant Wasu
and former MLA Mohan Mate inaugurated the tournament by releasing
balloons in the air.
SJAN president Kishor Bagde made
introductory remarks. Member Satish Dandare conducted proceedings
whereas treasurer Suhas Nayse proposed a vote of thanks.
