19th OCW-SJAN Inter Press Cricket, Day-7

Pandey guides TOI into semis


Vinay Pandey slammed 57-ball 97 as The Times of India (TOI) defeated Dainik Bhaskar by 15 runs to enter the semis in OCW-SJAN Inter-Press Cricket Tournament at Vasant Nagar ground on Monday.
The tournament has been organised by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association with OCW and SBI.
Batting first TOI scored 185 for 7 in 20 overs. Pandey unfortunately missed the  century by just three runs. His knock was studded with 12 boundaries and three sixes. He was ably supported by Pratik Siddharth who played a sensible  knock of 36. For Bhaskar, Sujan Masid claimed four wickets for 22.
In reply,  missed the target by 15 runs. Skipper Rahul Thakur ( 91, 65b, 3x6, 11x4) fought the lone battle. Shrikant Bhalarao (17) failed to convert the good start into big knock. For TOI, Suraj Nair and Sandeep Wardhane got two wickets each. Thus Lokmat and TOI have qualified for semis from group 'B'.
